Dirty Hands

One sunny day, there lived a little boy named Shyam mahato. Shyam loved to play outside with his friends. He would run, climb trees, and make mud pies. But Shyam had one bad habit—he never washed his hands with soap and water!

“Washing hands takes too much time,” Shyam would say.

One afternoon, Shyam’s mother made a delicious snack of sandwiches and juice. Hungry from playing, Shyam grabbed a sandwich with his dirty hands and ate it.

The next morning, Shyam woke up feeling very sick. His stomach hurt, and he didn’t want to play. His mother took him to see the doctor.

The doctor smiled kindly and said, “Shyam, do you always wash your hands with soap and water before eating?”

Shyam shook his head. “No, I don’t. Why is it so important?”

The doctor explained, “When you don’t wash your hands, germs stay on them. Germs are tiny creatures that make you sick. Soap and water wash the germs away.”

Shyam understood. “Oh no! I ate my food with dirty hands, and the germs made me sick!”

From that day on, Shyam promised to wash his hands with soap and water before eating and after playing. Soon, he felt better and could play with his friends again.

“Clean hands are happy hands!” Shyam said proudly.

All his friends learned from Shyam and made a habit of washing their hands, too.
