सेवारो नमस्कार !
नेपालको बहु–राष्ट्रिय, बहुभाषिक तथा बहु–सांस्कृतिक सभ्यतागत संरचनाभित्र आदिवासी जनजाति समुदायहरूको मातृभाषिक दृश्य–श्रव्य अभिव्यक्ति, सामुदायिक स्मृति, भू–चेतना, पूर्वजगतसँगको सम्बन्ध तथा सांस्कृतिक आत्म–प्रतिनिधित्वलाई पुनर्स्थापित गर्ने उद्देश्यसहित आदिवासी जनजाति चलचित्र महासंघको आयोजनामा “छैटौं नेपाल आदिवासी जनजाति चलचित्र महोत्सव – २०८३” आगामी जेठ १७, १८ र १९ गते चलचित्र विकास बोर्ड, चावहिल काठमाडौंमा आयोजना हुँदैछ ।
यो महोत्सव आदिवासी समुदायहरूको भाषा, संस्कृति, ज्ञान–परम्परा, विश्वदृष्टि, अनुष्ठानिक चेतना तथा सामूहिक अस्तित्वमाथि केन्द्रित एक अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सांस्कृतिक–बौद्धिक मञ्च हो । विश्वव्यापी रूपमा तीव्र बन्दै गएको सांस्कृतिक एकरूपीकरण, भाषिक क्षयीकरण तथा दृश्य–श्रव्य उपनिवेशवादको वर्तमान समयमा आदिवासी चलचित्रहरू सांस्कृतिक प्रतिरोध, आत्म–कथन र एपिस्टेमिक न्यायको सशक्त माध्यमका रूपमा उदाइरहेका छन् ।
आदिवासी चलचित्र समुदायको जीवित इतिहास, भूमि–सम्बन्ध, आध्यात्मिक अनुभव, लोक–ज्ञान, सामूहिक स्मृति तथा सांस्कृतिक अस्तित्वको दृश्य–श्रव्य अभिलेखन हो । यसले मुख्यधाराको प्रतिनिधित्व–संकटलाई चुनौती दिँदै समुदायलाई आफ्नै दृष्टिकोणबाट आफूलाई पुनःव्याख्या गर्ने अधिकार प्रदान गर्दछ । त्यसैले आदिवासी चलचित्रलाई आज विश्वभर सांस्कृतिक न्याय, भाषिक पुनर्जागरण तथा वैकल्पिक ज्ञान–उत्पादनको महत्वपूर्ण शास्त्रीय क्षेत्रका रूपमा हेरिन थालेको छ ।
यस महोत्सवमा नेपालका विभिन्न आदिवासी समुदायका मौलिक चलचित्रहरूको प्रदर्शन, अन्तरक्रिया, सांस्कृतिक विमर्श तथा चलचित्रसम्बन्धी प्राज्ञिक संवादहरू आयोजना गरिनेछन् । यो महोत्सव नेपालका लागि मात्र नभई विश्वभरका आदिवासी समुदायहरूको साझा सांस्कृतिक भविष्य, आत्म–प्रतिनिधित्व तथा दृश्य–श्रव्य सार्वभौमिकतासँग सम्बन्धित एक ऐतिहासिक पहल हो ।
विश्वभर छरिएर रहनुभएका सम्पूर्ण आदिवासी समुदाय, चलचित्रकर्मी, अनुसन्धानकर्ता, सांस्कृतिक अभियन्ता, लेखक, कलाकार तथा नेपाली दाजुभाइ–दिदीबहिनीहरूमा यस ऐतिहासिक महोत्सवमा गरिमामय सहभागिताका लागि हार्दिक अनुरोध गर्दछौं ।

Within Nepal’s multi-national, multilingual, and multicultural civilizational landscape, the “6th Nepal Indigenous Film Festival – 2026” is being organized by the Federation of indigenous nationalities film with the objective of revitalizing and reaffirming the mother language-based audio-visual expressions, collective memory, geo-cultural consciousness, ancestral connections, and cultural self-representation of Indigenous Nationalities communities. The festival will be held on June 1, 2, and 3, 2026 at the Film Development Board, Chabahil, Kathmandu.
This festival is an international cultural and intellectual platform centered on the languages, cultures, knowledge systems, worldviews, ritual consciousness, and collective existence of Indigenous peoples. In the contemporary global context of accelerating cultural homogenization, linguistic erosion, and audio-visual colonialism, Indigenous cinema has emerged as a powerful medium of cultural resistance, self-narration, and epistemic justice.
Indigenous cinema is not merely a form of artistic expression; it is an audio-visual archive of living histories, land relations, spiritual experiences, indigenous knowledge systems, collective memory, and cultural existence. By challenging the representational crisis imposed by dominant narratives, it empowers Indigenous communities to reinterpret and articulate themselves through their own perspectives and voices. Consequently, Indigenous cinema is increasingly being recognized worldwide as a significant scholarly and intellectual field associated with cultural justice, linguistic revitalization, and alternative knowledge production.
The festival will feature screenings of original films created by various Indigenous communities of Nepal, alongside interactions, cultural discourses, and academic dialogues related to cinema. This festival is not only significant for Nepal but also represents a historic initiative connected to the shared cultural future, self-representation, and audio-visual sovereignty of Indigenous peoples across the world.
We cordially invite Indigenous communities, filmmakers, researchers, cultural activists, writers, artists, and Nepali brothers and sisters living around the globe to participate with dignity and solidarity in this historic festival.
