The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has launched a strict enforcement campaign against street vendors, shops, and vehicles occupying public roads and footpaths. Municipal authorities said that despite multiple warnings and official notices, vendors and businesses continued to encroach on pedestrian pathways and road spaces, creating serious obstruction to public movement and traffic flow.

During the latest operation, bulldozers were deployed to remove illegal structures built on footpaths, while illegally parked vehicles were seized by municipal officials. Street vendors were instructed to shift their businesses to legally designated areas. Authorities emphasized that the action was taken only after repeated non-compliance with earlier recommendations, adding that the campaign aims to maintain public safety, improve urban order, and ensure smoother movement for pedestrians and vehicles.

He allegedly targeted young girls online by befriending them and gaining their trust. Later, he trapped them in fake relationships.

Police say he recorded videos without their consent and used them to threaten and control them. Around 100 videos were reportedly shared online, creating fear and anger in the region.

Reports suggest nearly 180 girls may have been targeted in this case. Fake groups on apps like WhatsApp and Snapchat were allegedly used to contact girls.

The accused, Ayan Ahmed Tanveer, is seen in some videos, and police suspect he may not have acted alone. He was arrested after complaints reached senior police officers and was sent to custody till 21 April.

Police are checking his phone and trying to remove the videos from the internet through the cyber cell. Authorities are also tracking people who shared or downloaded these clips.

So far, no victim or family has officially come forward due to fear and social stigma. Police are urging victims to come forward with full assurance of privacy and support.

This case is a serious reminder of the dangers of online traps and misuse of social media.

A video received from Pokhara shows an Indian-registered vehicle parked directly on a footpath in the busy Lakeside area, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road. The incident has sparked concern among locals, especially as Nepali vehicles are often restricted from such parking, raising questions about equal rule enforcement. The situation highlights how public walkways meant for pedestrian safety are being misused.

This is not an isolated case, as multiple reports have surfaced of vehicles with Indian number plates violating parking rules in tourist areas like Lakeside. Such incidents are increasing public frustration and safety risks for both locals and tourists. We urge concerned authorities to closely monitor the situation and take necessary action to ensure rules are applied equally to all.

A new tech startup, Zum Rides Pvt. Ltd., is set to launch around 200 smart electric cycles in Kathmandu Valley within the next few weeks, aiming to transform urban mobility. Developed after over two and a half years of research, the platform will operate through a mobile app using Al-based technology, offering users a convenient and eco-friendly way to travel short distances. Instead of charging per kilometer, the company uses a time-based and token system, with services available inside the Ring Road from early morning until night.

The service includes features like QR-based unlocking, smart docking stations, geofencing, and SOS safety support, along with insurance for both riders and cycles. With pricing claimed to be significantly cheaper than existing ride-sharing apps, Zum Rides also plans to expand up to 5,000 cycles in the future. The company highlights its environmental mission, aiming to reduce fuel consumption and plant trees as usage grows, though regulatory clarity from the government remains a key challenge ahead.

Global oil markets are facing renewed shock as major financial analysts warn of sharp price increases linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. JPMorgan Chase has cautioned that crude oil could rise up to $120 per barrel if normal shipping through the strategic waterway remains restricted until July. Despite a recent ceasefire, vessel movement is still tightly controlled and supervised by Iran's IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), with no full reopening of commercial shipping. Analysts also note that even partial recovery of oil flows may take weeks, keeping prices volatile around the $95-$97 range, while other firms like Goldman Sachs warn Brent could stay above $100 if disruptions continue.

Tensions escalated further after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a blockade targeting maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports, following the collapse of U.S.-Iran negotiations. The move, coordinated through CENTCOM, immediately pushed oil prices above $100 per barrel, with Brent and WTI both jumping sharply in early trading. Fears of reduced global supply exacerbate the situation, as Iran's exports could potentially lose up to 1.7 million barrels per day. Combined with regional production disruptions and rising geopolitical risks, markets are now bracing for continued volatility and possible further price spikes if tensions escalate.
