Instead of keeping flood survivors in temporary shelters for months, the government plans to provide factory-built homes that can be assembled at the selected site within a day.

The units are being designed to feel more like actual homes than emergency shelters, giving displaced families a safer and more dignified place to live while permanent settlements are developed.

Most of the units are expected to come from China, either through aid or government purchase.

From Cannes to the Oscars. 🇳🇵🎬

After making history as the first Nepali film selected for Cannes’ Un Certain Regard and winning the section’s Jury Prize, Elephants in the Fog has now been chosen to represent Nepal at the 2027 Oscars.

The film was selected over Gauthali by Nepal’s International Feature Film Selection Committee after evaluating its storytelling, technical work, emotional depth and artistic craftsmanship.

It’s not an Oscar nomination yet this is Nepal’s official submission. The Academy will later decide which films make the shortlist and ultimately the nominations.

But for Nepali cinema, this is already a huge moment. 🇳🇵❤️

Prasai had planned to address supporters and journalists at the airport, but police intervened, saying the programme was being organised in a restricted area without prior approval. He was then escorted to his residence in Bhaktapur.

While leaving the airport, Prasai chanted slogans targeting Prime Minister Balendra Shah and Home Minister.

The incident has once again put Prasai and his increasingly confrontational opposition to the government in the spotlight.

What do you make of the government's decision to stop the programme at the airport?

Teej is more than a day of fasting. It is a day of reunion, celebration, sisterhood and expression. ❤️

For generations, women have gathered to sing, dance, share their joys and struggles, visit temples and celebrate together. While the traditions and ways of celebrating Teej continue to evolve, its sense of togetherness remains at the heart of the festival.

To every woman celebrating Teej today may this day bring you happiness, strength, good health and the freedom to celebrate in your own way.

Happy Haritalika Teej! 🇳🇵❤️

A small but important step toward reopening the Kathmandu–Chitwan section of the Prithvi Highway. 🇳🇵

As part of efforts to restore traffic through the landslide-hit Krishnabhir section, around 20 vehicles were allowed to pass on a trial basis, including a fuel tanker heading towards Chitwan.

Authorities are working to make the route safe and operational after the highway was severely damaged by flooding and landslides.

For thousands of travellers and for the supply of essential goods to Kathmandu, every step toward reopening Krishnabhir matters. 🙏

At the heart of the story is Pirati, who dreams of leaving with the man she loves. But when one of the women from her community goes missing, she has to choose between the life she wants and the responsibility she carries for her people.

Written and directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, the film explores love, community, identity, responsibility and the realities faced by Nepal’s Kinnar community.

And this isn't just another film we should watch because it's Nepali.

It already made history as the first Nepali film selected for Cannes’ Un Certain Regard, and then won the section's Jury Prize.

If you get the chance to watch Elephants in the Fog, go watch it. 🇳🇵🎬

The BRICS Summit is taking place in New Delhi on September 12–13, with leaders discussing global governance, trade, technology, energy, security and greater cooperation among developing economies.

With China’s Xi Jinping, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian among the key leaders attending, the summit comes at a time of major geopolitical tensions.

One of the biggest questions is whether BRICS can turn its growing influence into concrete cooperation and whether the Global South can gain a stronger voice in shaping the world order.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah is heading to New York to lead Nepal’s delegation at the 81st United Nations General Assembly from September 22 to 26.

This will be Shah’s first foreign trip since becoming Prime Minister, and his visit comes at a critical moment for Nepal following the devastating Bhotekoshi–Trishuli floods.

At the UN, Nepal is expected to highlight climate justice, the growing impact of climate-related disasters in the Himalayas, and the need for international support for recovery and reconstruction.

For Nepal, this won't just be another diplomatic visit it is an opportunity to take the country's climate and disaster concerns to the world stage. 🇳🇵🌍
