Various cultures around the world have their own unique calendars and date associations. However, the Bikram Samwat calendar holds historical significance, particularly in Eastern philosophy and Vedic Sanatan rites. King Vikramaditya of ancient India started this calendar, and there are scriptures and evidence to support his reign and the expansion of his borders up to the Gulf nations of today. The Bikram Sambat calendar is used in Nepal and is 56.7 years ahead of the AD association.
May this year bring blessings of religion, culture, and philanthropy worldwide, and may it lead to the eradication of lawlessness, the welfare of all beings, the love of nature, and the development of societies that cherish nature. Nepal is renowned for its festivals, such as the Biska Jatra, which is celebrated on the first day of the Bikram Sambat calendar in Bhaktapur, Tokha, Dhapasi, Thimi, and neighboring areas. Although the Jatra does not commemorate the new year of Vikram Samvat, it remains a significant event.
The first day of the Nepali month of Baisakh has different names and is celebrated in various ways across Nepal and the Indian subcontinent. In the Terai regions of Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, the first and second days of Baisakh are known as Jutsh*ttal and are celebrated as Baishakhi and Shiruwa.
