Seven people, including the operator of a petrol pump, were taken into custody by Parsa Police on Thursday evening after they were allegedly caught stealing aviation fuel from a tanker in Birgunj.

According to police, the incident took place at Saudagar Petrol Pump in the Gandak area of Birgunj. Acting on a special tip-off received around 5:00 PM, a police team reached the site and launched an investigation.

Authorities said the suspects were found siphoning aviation fuel from tanker Na 7 Kha 1539. After an operation that lasted nearly three hours, police claimed they caught the group red-handed and took them to the District Police Office, Parsa, for further investigation.

Police have not yet released the identities of the seven individuals arrested.

Harka Sampang recently shared a video showing himself washing utensils at home. Under the video, one person mocked him by commenting that he would end up washing plates in a hotel.

The comment has drawn criticism because washing plates, cleaning or doing any other honest work should never be used as an insult. Thousands of workers earn their living through such jobs, and disrespecting their work also disrespects their struggle, effort and dignity.

Sampang replied sharply, saying he would do the job if the salary was IC 100,000. His use of an abusive word may also be questioned, but the original comment has once again highlighted the need to respect every form of honest labour.

The suspicious death of 17-year-old Saroj Nyaupane from Itahari–9 has raised serious public concern. Police have detained his stepmother, Muna Nyaupane, as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Saroj’s friends have alleged that he had faced repeated physical and mental abuse, including beatings, food deprivation and other mistreatment within the family. They have demanded a fair and detailed investigation. However, police have not yet officially verified these allegations and have urged the public not to spread unconfirmed information.

Itahari Mayor Hemkarna Paudel has also demanded a transparent investigation and strict legal action against anyone found responsible.

A heated exchange unfolded in Nepal's National Assembly on Thursday after Home Minister Sudhan Gurung declined to directly answer questions regarding the long-unsolved Nirmala Panta r**e and murder case.

The issue was raised by MP Vishnubahadur Bishwakarma, who questioned why the government had still failed to identify the perpetrators and deliver justice despite years of investigation. He asked whether the delay reflected state incompetence or a lack of political will.

Responding from the parliamentary rostrum, Gurung said the case is "highly sensitive" and instead questioned why previous governments had not resolved it while they were in power. He argued that repeatedly discussing the case in Parliament only deepens the pain of Nirmala Panta's family and urged lawmakers not to raise the issue in either the National Assembly or the House of Representatives.

The Home Minister maintained that the government is conducting a detailed investigation but said he could not reveal further information because the case remains under investigation. He invited lawmakers to meet him personally if they wanted updates, stating he would provide more details privately.

MP Bishwakarma objected to the minister's response, saying that questioning the government is a fundamental parliamentary right and that ministers are obligated to answer. He then asked how long it would take for Nirmala Panta to receive justice.

Gurung responded, "I do not want to answer that question," refusing to provide any timeline for the investigation.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has introduced stricter dress and conduct rules for federal Parliament meetings, including a restriction on wearing black sunglasses.

Lawmakers have also been instructed to wear formal coats with parliamentary logos and maintain proper decorum inside the House.

Deputy Speaker Ruby Kumari Thakur said lawmakers wearing black sunglasses could be stopped at the entrance or removed from the meeting.

The rule will reportedly be enforced strictly after Parliament moves into its new hall. Those who need dark glasses for medical reasons must present a doctor’s recommendation or medical certificate.

The Speaker has also asked lawmakers to remain inside while meetings are underway and leave only for essential reasons such as washroom breaks, refreshments or important calls. Political parties have committed to informing their lawmakers and following the new rules.

A passenger bus traveling from Koteshwor to Satdobato crashed into the wall of the Gwarko Flyover in Lalitpur on Thursday morning, leaving one woman dead and 10 others injured.

The accident occurred at around 10:30 AM when the bus (Ba 2 Kha 3590) reportedly lost control and slammed into the flyover barrier. Police said the deceased is believed to be a woman around 40 years old, although her identity has not yet been confirmed.

All 10 injured passengers are receiving treatment at B & B Hospital in Gwarko. According to police, two of the injured are men while the remaining are women.

Preliminary investigations indicate the bus was traveling at a high speed, causing the driver to lose control before hitting the flyover wall. The driver has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

Nepal has identified at least 135 compromised government email accounts under the official “nepal.gov.np” domain after joining Have I Been Pwned, a global platform that tracks leaked credentials and data breaches. Nepal has reportedly become the 47th government entity connected to the monitoring system.

The affected accounts belonged to officials working at institutions including the Prime Minister’s Office and the ministries of Home Affairs, Finance and Foreign Affairs. The National Cyber Security Centre has started informing affected offices, securing vulnerable accounts and requiring immediate password changes.

Cybersecurity officials warned that outdated software, weak security practices and human behaviour continue to expose government systems to phishing and other cyberattacks. Authorities are also using dark-web monitoring, network analysis and security testing tools to detect suspicious activities.
