The Six-Armed Ganesha, also known as Shadbhuja Ganesha, is one of the remarkable forms of Lord Ganesha found in Nepal’s rich religious and artistic heritage. This unique depiction symbolizes his greater cosmic power, ability to perform multiple tasks at once, and mastery over the six primary chakras or energy centers of the human body. One of the most famous historical stone reliefs of Shadbhuja Ganesha is located at Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Lalitpur.

May Lord Ganesha remove all obstacles from our lives and bless you with wisdom and prosperity!

The government has announced a pilot cycling tourism project in Gandaki Province, one of Nepal’s most scenic regions for mountain and trail cycling. Under the budget for fiscal year 2083/84, two major cycling routes will be developed: the Kaski Lipeni–Thumsikot–Bhachok–Lamtari corridor via the historic Prince Charles Route up to Karapu, and the Vyas–Chhabdi Barahi–Bandipur–Chhimkeshwari–Labdi–Devghat route.

The initiative aims to promote adventure tourism, attract domestic and international cyclists, and create new economic opportunities for communities located along the routes. Officials believe the project can help diversify Nepal’s tourism offerings beyond trekking and mountaineering while showcasing the natural beauty, culture and landscapes of Gandaki Province.

Starlink has again said that it will launch its satellite internet service in Nepal only if it is allowed to operate with 100% foreign ownership. During a meeting with Communications Minister Bikram Timsina, Starlink representatives reportedly said the company’s global policy does not allow local equity partners in its internet service business. Nepal’s telecom policy currently allows up to 80% foreign ownership, meaning at least 20% Nepali ownership is required.

Government officials have said Starlink must follow Nepal’s existing laws and licensing process like other service providers. The issue has become a major hurdle for Starlink’s Nepal entry, even as the company has already moved forward in several South Asian countries, including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. For now, the launch depends on whether Nepal changes its rule or Starlink agrees to the local ownership requirement.

Sudurpashchim Province has presented its policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084 in the Provincial Assembly. Province Chief Najir Miya presented the program during Monday’s meeting. The government has said it will give priority to physical infrastructure, tourism promotion, health services and education reform. It has also announced that major provincial pride projects currently under construction will be completed within the next fiscal year, with budget allocation based on need.

The province has also planned to connect remote areas like Saipal Rural Municipality and Api Himal Rural Municipality of Darchula, and Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality of Bajura with provincial and local road networks. Special poverty reduction programs will be run in selected local levels of Achham, Darchula, Bajura and Baitadi, linking them with education, health and nutrition support. The policy also includes programs to reduce youth migration through jobs, entrepreneurship and skill development, while promoting high-hill and mountain tourism routes around Api, Saipal, Khaptad, Badimalika and Ramaroshan. Health reform programs, rural ultrasound services and scholarship programs will also continue.

In Nepal, we commonly call suntala an “orange” in English. But scientifically, many fruits we call suntala are closer to mandarins or tangerines than true oranges. True oranges are usually bigger, rounder, and harder to peel, while mandarins and tangerines are often smaller, sweeter, easier to peel, and have loose skin.

This does not mean people are “wrong” in daily language. In Nepal, suntala has become the common word for orange-like citrus fruits. But when we look at fruit types more carefully, the suntala we eat in winter is often more like a mandarin than the typical orange taught in school books.

Indian Sashastra Seema Bal personnel reportedly stopped ongoing embankment construction work in Susta, West Nawalparasi, on Sunday. The project is being built to protect local areas from Narayani River erosion and flooding. Local officials said around 40 to 50 Indian security personnel reached the construction site and objected to the work being done under a new contract.

District authorities have informed Nepal’s Home Ministry about the incident and are preparing for talks with the Indian side. Local people and representatives have urged the government to solve the issue through diplomacy while also protecting Nepal’s land and local safety.

The government has announced a new plan to give customers a 10% VAT discount when they make purchases through digital payment methods. This discount will be provided at the time of invoice issuance, which means customers may get the benefit when they ask for a proper bill and pay digitally.

The budget also mentions an automatic VAT refund system and incentive programs like lotteries to encourage people to take bills after buying goods or services. The main goal is to increase digital payments, reduce tax leakage, and build a stronger invoicing culture in Nepal.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has announced that electric vehicles priced below 50 lakh rupees will become cheaper under the new budget measures. According to the minister, the reduction is being made by correcting a previously overlooked provision in the vehicle tax structure and introducing adjustments aimed at making affordable EVs more accessible.

As part of the changes, the government has reduced the road development fee by half for lower-priced electric vehicles and simplified the customs duty structure. Wagle explained that the road development fee for the lowest EV price category will be set at 2.5 percent, while other categories will face a standard 5 percent fee. A 13 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) will continue to apply.

The Finance Minister said these changes are intended to support the growth of electric mobility while keeping prices affordable for consumers. He added that the final cost of vehicles will still vary depending on their price category, but EVs below 50 lakh rupees are expected to see a noticeable price reduction.

A fresh controversy has emerged in Parliament after Shram Sanskrity Party lawmaker Aaren Rai strongly criticized Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s statement regarding the Nepal-India border issue. Rai said he felt embarrassed by the Prime Minister’s remarks and described them as weak and factually incorrect.

According to Rai, he would not have raised the question if he had already known the answer provided by the Prime Minister. He argued that the statement lacked a factual basis and demanded that the remarks be removed from the official parliamentary record. Aaren Rai also called on Balendra Shah to issue a public apology. Rai further warned that if his demands are not addressed, his party will continue obstructing parliamentary proceedings.
