We talk about the struggle of living as a good Muslim in this world, where everything around us can feel haram. We discuss the challenge of maintaining our faith when our friends and environment pull us away from our deen. Despite the loneliness we may feel, we remind ourselves that Allah is with us and that this world is not truly ours. We ask Allah to provide us with good friends and a lifestyle that keeps us on the path of Islam, and encourage others to keep striving together.

In the Quran, Allah warns us against becoming overly joyful, as He does not love the exultant. Exultant, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, means being triumphantly happy. Ibn al-Jawzi in his book “Discipline the Soul” reminds us that happiness should be balanced, equal to sorrow. Excessive joy is a sign of intense heedlessness. Let’s strive for moderation in all aspects of life.
