1. Kukur Tihar is celebrated on the second day of Yamapanchak i.e. Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi. Since this is the only breed of dog found in Nepal, it was addressed only by the name of dog. Later, after the importation of different breeds of dogs increased, its name became Bhote Kukur.

2. In Hinduism, dogs are given a special place as obedient and faithful. In Hindu scriptures, dogs are described as protectors as well as messengers of Yamaraj. It is mentioned in the scriptures that even until death, the door of salvation is guarded by a dog. Similarly, the dog is also known as the vehicle of Lord Bhairav.

3. Since the beginning of human civilization, dogs have been helping humans at all times. The dog protects the house from thieves. Because the dog sleeps thinly, it is alert at all times and is known as a creature that is satisfied even with a small amount of food.

4. On the day of Kukur Tihar, it is customary to worship the dog and garland it. Then the dog is allowed to eat the food it likes. In the Rigveda, there is a story of Devkukurni Sharma acting as Indra's messenger and negotiating with Asura traders. In another mythological incident, there is mention of the incident where Sharmaka Chaura was cursed by the Yagya-performers after they were beaten up for a small mistake.

5. Similarly, in the Mahabharata, there is a story that when the Pandavas went to heaven, Yudhishthira took his dog with him to heaven. In the story, the dog is described as a form of Yamaraja or Dharmaraja.

6. The day of Kukur Tihar is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi. On this day, it is customary to take a bath to destroy all sins. On this day, there is also a custom of eating masa leaves. It is believed that on this day, all the sins of a person will be destroyed by eating the greens of Masa leaves.

7. There is a religious belief that people who worship dogs and give them food on the day of the dog festival will be blessed. Therefore, on the day of Dog Tihar, not only the dogs kept in their homes but also street dogs are allowed to eat food after wearing garlands and tags. It can be considered that this special act of worshiping and offering food to dogs has given special importance to human civilization and culture. On the day of Kukur Tihar, the strong relationship between human society and dogs is celebrated.

8. It is believed that people who eat without eating the dog on the day of Kukar Tihar will be punished by Yamaraj. Therefore, on this day, it is customary to wake up early in the morning and worship the Kukar after taking a bath.

9. Bhot = The settlements in the highest places of Nepal are called Bhot. The foot of the mountain is also called Bhot. Some settlements are addressed by the name of vote in front or behind. Like Chhakrevot, a hamlet on the highest point of Dolpa, other places are addressed by placing the village behind the bhot. Like Bhotegaon in Dhading and Dolpa, Bhotenamlang in Sindhupalchok, Bhotechour, Cave Bhoteodar in Lamjung, most of the low-lying settlements call villages and cowsheds in high places Bhot. It is called Vote Kukur because it is a dog that stays in the vote and is put down by the vote.

Note: In the settlements located in the high mountains, the lower settlements call the settlements higher than them Bhot. The higher ones also called the settlements higher than them Bhot, so they also called Tibet Bhot.

The meaning of vote is different according to different communities, languages and cultures. For Tibetans, Bhot is culture, while for Indians, Bhot is the country of Bhutan, the people of Bhutan. In the treaty of Kerung, the vote means Tibet, but in different histories, religions, and Sanskrit, the vote means the highest settlement in Nepal or the foothills of the mountains.

Conclusion: Although the meaning of vote is broad, for Nepalis, it is understood as a settlement in a high place, the foothills of the mountains, the district beyond the mountains. Tibet, which was a separate nation for centuries, was also called Bhot, but today Tibet is part of the People's Republic of China.

Nepal has become a natural state, apart from Nepal, dogs of this breed are also found in the neighboring countries of India, Bhutan and Tibet. Recently, the DNA of Nepali Bhote dog has been mixed with Tibetan dogs. It is clear from this that at different times, Bote dogs have been exported from Nepal and reached European countries through Tibet, Mongolia, India, Bhutan.

But the history of Bhote Kukur has been overshadowed by the wrong history written by foreign Upanishadists. Various weapons have been used for misrepresentation and misunderstanding against foreigners. Not only Bhote Kukur, but Lord Gautama Buddha and the world's highest peak, Everest, have spread confusion all over the world.

It is clear from this extended article that the origin and development of Bhote Kukur took place in Nepal.
