Eight Arrested in Kathmandu Honeytrap Robbery Case Involving Fake Police

Kathmandu — In a shocking incident in the Kalanki area of Kathmandu, eight individuals, including two women, have been arrested for robbing two men under the pretense of spending the night together in a hotel. The victims were lured into a trap and extorted out of Rs. 363,000 in cash.

According to police, the incident took place in Room No. 402 of Hotel Men's in Kalanki. The victims were tricked by two women and taken to the hotel, where six men—posing as police officers—threatened and intimidated them. The fake police accused the victims of being involved in criminal activities and threatened to kill them if they resisted or spoke out.

Fearing for their lives, the victims handed over their cash and withdrew more money from their bank accounts to meet the robbers' demands. Later, when the victims realized the individuals were impostors and not real police officers, they filed a complaint with the Valley Crime Investigation Office.

Following the complaint, a team led by DSP Roshan Khadka arrested the eight suspects involved in the staged robbery. The arrested include Sandeep Pariyar of Devchuli, Nawalparasi; Sandeep Bik (25) and Atit Kshetri (25) of Bharatpur, Chitwan; Badal Tamang (22); Anish KC of Gaindakot; Bibek Malla Thakuri of Chitwan; Sakriya Khaniya of Lamjung; and Kavita Rai, originally from Sunsari and currently residing in Kapan.

During the operation, police seized Rs. 52,000 in cash, nine mobile phones from various brands, and a motorcycle.

According to SP Kaji Kumar Acharya, all eight suspects have been handed over to the Kathmandu District Police Office for further investigation and legal proceedings.
