Today, we celebrate **Naag Panchami**, a special day in Nepal dedicated to honoring the **serpent deities (Naags)** — protectors of water, fertility, and our homes. 🙏🌧️

On this sacred day (Shrawan Shukla Panchami), people across Nepal:
🛕 Visit Naag temples like Naag Pokhari, Taudaha, and Nag Daha

🎨 Draw or paste images of Naags on their doors and walls for protection
🥛 Offer milk, rice pudding, dubo grass, and eggs to serpent gods
🚫 Avoid digging the earth to prevent harming underground serpents

Bhoto Jatra is a vibrant cultural event in Lalitpur, Nepal, associated with the Rato Machhindranath Jatra (Chariot Festival). The main highlight of Bhoto Jatra is the public display of a sacred, jewel-studded vest called the "bhoto". The story behind the bhoto involves a farmer who cured the eye ailment of the serpent king Karkotaka's wife, and was rewarded with the vest. However, the vest was later stolen by a ghost, leading to a dispute that remains unresolved. The bhoto is displayed during the Bhoto Jatra, waiting for the rightful owner to claim it.
