The funeral of Kanchha Sherpa, the last surviving member of the first successful Mount Everest expedition team, was held today at Chintamani Ghat, Teku Dovan.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, paid tribute by draping the national flag over his body.
In 1953, Kanchha Sherpa made history by climbing Mount Everest alongside Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary. He passed away at the age of 92 at his residence in Kapan, Kathmandu.
We extend our deepest condolences and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul. 🙏
