Second song in the mystery!
In the late 90's a musician named Steve Roberts left a tape with two acoustic songs recorded on it as a thanks to the peeps living in a James Street flat in Dublin.
I turned up in 99 and those two songs became two of my favourite songs but I have never been able to find out more about the elusive Steve Roberts!
So now I'm seeing if anyone else knows him or recognises these songs.

This is "6 O'Clock"
If you know more, please message me or reshare to help the search!

:: One of the most powerful lessons I ever learned about music didn’t happen with a guitar in my hands... ::

When we think about practising music, most people imagine sitting with an instrument, running scales, or repeating tricky passages. But one of the most powerful forms of practice doesn’t involve touching the guitar at all: active listening.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned at music college was from a teacher who told me: “Go home and listen to an album all the way through, with headphones.” I took that advice and listened to Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue" in the dark. Even though I’d heard it many times before, that night I listened with completely new ears.

These days we do a lot of passive listening — music in the background while we drive, work, or scroll. What’s missing is enough active, focused listening. Giving your full attention: noticing the rhythm of the hi-hat, the way a guitarist shapes a phrase, or how the harmony creates tension and release.

Here’s why this matters:
Ear Training – you start to recognise intervals, rhythms, and patterns more intuitively.
Musical Vocabulary – by listening deeply, you absorb phrasing, dynamics, and ideas you can later draw on in your own playing.
Mind–Body Connection – visualising the music as you hear it strengthens the link between thought and ex*****on when you pick up your instrument.

So next time you feel short on practice time, don’t underestimate the value of putting on a record, closing your eyes, and really listening. It counts.
