Passion is contagious and itโ€™s hard not to be inspired hearing people speak with passion about the impact they want to make and the change they want to achieve. These people, or organisations, tend to fall into one of two types:

1) They want to help by sharing their knowledge and educating people, so they can be the change they want to see, whether that be personal, local, or global. Often these people consider themselves, or aspire to be seen as, thought-leaders or figures of authority in their field. or

2) They are humble and/or do not think they are doing anything special, as it's just a part of who they are and how they operate. I know, I know, it's been a while since I posted anything here...that's because running my own business had become really hard work and I needed a break. So a break I have taken.

While I have not fully closed my business, I have taken a part-time job with an awesome local business, whose offering totally aligns with my interests and values; Glam Camping At Castaways ๐Ÿ˜ (which I am loving).

This change means a few things:
1. My availability for filming and video production will be limited, so thinking ahead and booking me in advance is essential.
2. Removing the stress of where the next client is coming from (aka, where the next $$$s will come from) has allowed me to only work with clients and on projects where our values strongly align, which is important to me, and fuels my creativity and passion for impact-driven video storytelling.
3. Creating videos that inspire others has again become a joy and something I feel excited about.

It was a hard decision to make, to stop growing something I had worked so hard on for the past 7 years, but 4 months on, it feels like the right one.

Auckland teacher / school-related friends... have you heard of the Tread Lightly Caravan? They are an environmental education 'caravan' travelling around Auckland primary schools teaching our tamariki about sustainability. If you haven't had them at your school before, check them out - and if you have had them at your school, is it time for another visit?

As a cause I wholeheartedly support, I was honoured to produce their first promotion video in 2018 (?) - follow the link in their original post to view it... and I am delighted to be working with them again this month to update the video and help support the amazing mahi they do.

By using stories, organisations have the ability to capture the imagination and convey results and ideas in a simple and memorable way, engage and connect with the audience, and take them on a journey that inspires, enlightens or empowers. Done well video storytelling enables viewers to understand other's perspectives, resonate with a scenario or imagine themselves in a certain situation. Video storytelling can be as simple as showing a brand's product in use, or as complex as following a transformational journey someone goes through.
By using video storytelling, you are inviting your audience in - giving them access to get to know, understand and trust your organisation.
Start with introductory videos, to 'humanise' your organisation and allow your followers to get to know the people behind the action. Follow these with success stories or testimonials, show the impact your mahi is having, or the reason you aren't having the impact want to have.... give viewers food for thought, a reason to act and get involved....

Videos don't have to be long, short videos can be just as effective as longer ones for some purposes. Vary their duration to suit the audience and platform.

Video can be a valuable resource for education, especially with the popularity of online courses, webinars, and the tendency nowadays to head to google or YouTube to find out 'How-to...something..?" whenever we are stuck.

Today consumers are increasingly demanding authentic and meaningful experiences from organisations. Video storytelling meets this demand and has become a powerful tool for building loyalty and driving engagement.

Making Video Marketing Achievable for Small Businesses

โ€œWhen I first had the idea of starting a business in 2016, I was working for my local Playcentre Association as their Promotions Convenor. And I was loving it. I loved coming up with ways to get their unique message out there and to boost their brand awareness and engagement in the community.

I was also meeting a lot of small business owners who were really passionate about their business, but had no idea how to tell people about themselves, or were so overwhelmed by the marketing side of business that all their energy and passion was being drained out of them.

And so, along with two other Playcentre mums, we formed Red Feet Marketing, with the vision being to help small business owners with their marketing. We were a videographer, with a background in promotions, a copywriter & editor and a marketer.

Fast forward two years, three business partners become one, and I realised, as just one person, I couldnโ€™t be all things, to all people (one of the exact things we were always telling our clients!) and continue to be all things marketing to small businesses. The one thing that hadnโ€™t changed was my vision to help small businesses, and this is still the audience I am passionate about helping.
