1. Communication Style

Pinas: Mahilig tayo sa pa-diplomatic, minsan “yes” kahit hindi sure.
NZ: Very direct sila what you see is what you get.

📍 “Sa Pinas, ‘okay lang’ means ‘hindi okay pero ayoko magdrama.’ Sa NZ, kapag sinabi nilang ‘okay,’ as in legit okay na.”

2. Time / Punctuality

Pinas: “Filipino time” is real. 30 mins late? Normal.
NZ: On time is a must, lalo na sa trabaho or appointments.

📍 “Dati, 10:30 start means 11:00 darating lahat. Dito, 10:29 ka palang late na daw. 😅”

3. Family vs Independence

Pinas: Lahat magkakasama pamilya is life!
NZ: Very independent, 18 palang, out na sa bahay.

📍 “Dito, 18 ka palang, pinapalayas ka na ‘para matuto sa buhay.’ Sa Pinas, kahit 30 ka na, welcome ka pa rin sa bahay ni Mama. 😂”

4. Social Hierarchy

Pinas: May po, opo, Kuya, Ate, Sir/Ma’am respect levels!
NZ: First name basis lahat, kahit boss mo.

📍 “First time ko marinig ‘Hi John’ sa boss nila, kala ko close sila. Yun pala, normal lang!”

5. Hospitality

Pinas: Super alaga sa bisita may handaan agad.
NZ: “Help yourself” culture. Literal. Maghanap ka ng pagkain. 😂

📍 “Sa bahay ni Tita, may handang merienda agad. Sa Kiwi friend ko, sabi niya ‘just grab anything from the fridge.’ Ako: huh?? 😳”

6. Noise & Celebrations

Pinas: Maingay, masaya, may videoke kahit weekday.
NZ: Chill lang, minsan sobrang tahimik. May noise curfew pa!

📍 “Namiss ko yung kapitbahay na nagvi-videoke ng ‘My Way’ tuwing Sabado. Dito, bawal na yun after 10PM. 😅”

7. Food Culture

Pinas: Rice is life. Kailangan laging may kanin!
NZ: Minsan sandwich lang for lunch, or salad.

📍 “No rice? Parang hindi meal. Dito, toast at butter lang busog na daw. Ako: Asan ang kanin??”

“Nakakatuwang makita ang pagkakaiba ng kultura, pero ang mahalaga nasa puso pa rin ang paggalang, pag-aadjust, at pagmamahal sa bagong environment. 🇵🇭❤️🇳🇿

"Malayo man sa pamilya, malapit pa rin sa pangarap."
Bilang isang OFW, bawat pagod, lungkot, at sakripisyo ay may katumbas na magandang kinabukasan.
Hindi madali ang malayo sa mga mahal sa buhay, pero para sa kanila ang lahat ng ito.
Ipagpatuloy mo lang ang sipag, tiyaga, at pananalig dahil ang bawat araw na lumilipas ay isang hakbang palapit sa tagumpay.
