My first attempt at a spiral with shaky legs but it was so fun! Hopefully with more practice I will get more height, stability and speed!

My Skating Progress So Far

I haven’t progressed much after 8 adult lessons. I’ve only really been officially back learning on the ice May 2022. Add to that skating in a body so different when I was playing ice hockey in my 20’s it’s a lot to take in. I feel I am not progressing as much as I thought I would.

Without my ice hockey paddings, I’ve been getting bruise after bruise despite using knee pads. It is not the same protection as hockey shin guards. But I had to let that go because figure skating is a whole new learning on it’s own. I found the hockey shin guards restrictive in performing figure skating moves.

For now I am posting some moments with my daughter and friends on ice. Will post progress videos when I do get actual progress.

It’s a tough journey but I am so thankful my husband is so supportive in my learning before I get too old it’s going to be hard to skate.

Will check back with a 3 month progress update when I get there!

Our precious little boy turned 4 last Sunday 20.02.2022 ❤️

Time flies so fast, it feels just like yesterday when we first saw his chubby cheeks on 20 February 2018, had his 1st birthday at daycare then travelled to Auckland in 2019, 2nd birthday during lockdown 2020, 3rd birthday again at daycare 2021, and now 4th birthday in 2022 almost a year back in Auckland
without having to drive 5 hours!

We thank God for this bundle of joy given to us, always giving us smiles and non-stop laughing everyday.

Wishing our boy health and happiness and many more birthdays to celebrate 🥰❤️ We love you so much Kaeden ❤️❤️❤️

The kids are getting excited for when they start their ice skating lessons soon and wanted to try on their skates ⛸🤍🏒🥅

Amanda wants to learn figure skating apart from ice hockey. Meanwhile Kaeden will ice skate for the first time! We have to wait until after he turns 4 next month so he can enroll in the Tiny Tots class.

Let's take a look back when we used to play in-line hockey.

To switch from ice to in-line because we haven't got an ice rink is really challenging. But we were lucky at least we have a roller rink in town where we can practice and play off the ice.

This coming 2022 hopefully we can get back on the ice now that we are coming to almost 1 year back in Auckland!

Ice Skating at Queenstown Ice Arena

My daughter age 5 at the time in 2016, joined a 5 day ice hockey camp at Queenstown when we went there on holiday.

At that time we lived in New Plymouth that didn’t have an ice rink so it felt great to be back on the ice and get our skating legs back. But then after the holiday we wouldn’t be getting to an ice rink again until 4 years later at 2020!

We have moved back to Auckland 9 months ago but before we got a chance to skate again we went on lockdown.

hope when the lockdown restrictions ease we can get to an ice rink again.
