Reflexology History Documentary

It's been a while since Ive posted anything on this page. However I am still moving forwards with this project and in fact I have just gone back to looking at information and I am often trying to determine best how to portray this information. My upcoming students of my introductory courser will benefit from use some of my resources. It is fascinating with social media to learn more about this fascinating subject. My main aim with this project is to celebrate Reflexology in NZ and to document its history and beginnings and be useful as a reliable resource for people that want to know facts. Yes there is information already out there that has been documented which is fantastic however my aim is to collate the information into a documentary format.
This image is one of a replica Endeavour boat which will have had an impact on the
country. Would be interesting to know if any kind of foot work was used to help with the sailors and people on board for helping settle their seasickness etc. Food for thought - would be curious to get some feedback from people reading this post.
The photograph was one I took a few years back when A replica endeavour boat visited Wellington and I managed to capture it sailing out of Wellington Harbour.

Recently came across a few old journals and noted reflexology was not listed in this. Reflexology Associations perhaps werent affiliated with this group. Recognised a few names of trained reflexologists who were on here but so many not. Curious about this

Nice to be back in Wellington for a time visiting family for Christmas. Wellington is where l have sourced much information for this project having visited the National archives and the Nga tonga sound archives. Some interesting information about Reflexology in the media film tv and magazines over the years. Also rekindled a memory of my own input into spreading Reflexology word on National Television but it was around the same time as ChCh experienced devastating earthquakes so that stopped or changed how things progressed.

Earlier in May this year the National Body of Reflexology in New Zealand held their conference at the Commodore Hotel and I was privileged to be able to share my journey so far with this project. The aim was to have a completed project to present however that did not happen for one reason or another. I am still determined to complete some resources and I have also had to accept that this is an evolving journey and that it will continue to be but the more stories that I can gather helps with our history and so many individuals of many different backgrounds have helped shape it and grow it to be what it is today.

Its amazing where this journey taken me. Since I have travelled to the South Island and now living here I have become so much more aware of some of the amazing people that have contributed and helped shape the reflexology industry as we know it today. Today I attended a herbal learning course and I discovered the lady running the course had a keen interest in reflexology and taught some basic skills as part of a natural therapy qualification. Hope to bring you a little more to come regarding this when I organise some time to speak to the lady.
