Hey D1 friends, today we have Brian Baker from BB & The Bullets answering a few personal questions.
Wanna be a fly on the wall?
Here is another
“Know me thru music”🎹
So, we at D1 got a hold of Brian and asked if he would let us into a few trade secrets.
If you haven’t checkout out a “Know Me” before, the rules are, our artists are asked a few questions about what
musically moves and inspires them, then they get 10 mins to make a Spotify playlist of songs that jump out at them.
So, please enjoy and welcome Brian Baker.
D1 - Can you tell us about a song or artist from your childhood and your memories of its impact on you?
Brian -My sister had grown up and moved out. That meant I got her bedroom - score! Moving in, I found her old mono vinyl record player. It was a classic portable style with valves and a little speaker. Also a stack of singles containing a lot of The Beatles early work. They sounded amazing, somehow like the classical music I’d been learning on piano. Many standouts but “Day Tripper” is one that stays in the memory! Hearing those songs in the way that they were meant to be heard was a revelation and a great kick off to writing and recording music.
D1 - What has releasing this single meant for you as an artist and as a band and what is next on the horizon?
Brian -The current singles we have released are a buld up to launching our debut album on the 12th September. We’re very lucky to have a deal with Dixiefrog Records in France. This means that we can release the album on vinyl, CD and digital, in Europe, The States, UK, Australia and we look after New Zealand. Exciting times for BB & The Bullets. We can’t wait for you guys to hear it!
D1 - When thinking about music, what is your idea of a good time? Any good story to share?!
Brian - My personal idea of a good time is recording in the studio with the other guys. Knowing we have a great song, a great arrangement and a great drum track already in the can! Very satisfying. Then tracking and mixing it to perfection to present to the world. This is creating art and means a series of value judgements, no right or wrong just an interesting outcome.
“ I wish D1 had asked me this question!” and my answer! Who are you currently inspired by in reference to your guitar playing?
Well, I’m always and constantly inspired by Jeff Beck. His sounds and techniques are things I try to incorporate in my own playing. Albert King and his outlandish bends are something I’m taking under my wing right now also. But my biggest current inspiration is Randy Rhodes. Ozzy Osborne’s passing has bought Randy into my horizon and I’m absolutely blown away, not only by the guys playing but in particular his obsessive approach to learning and practicing which I hope, in some small way, mirrors my own. Hey, I practice a lot!!! If BB & The Bullets get as popular as we believe they will, then my guitar playing is going to have to be very very sharp! Plus - I love the whole damn thing!
THANK YOU, Brian for sharing ⭐️
