🎨 CUSTOM DESIGNS - Terms and Conditions 🧐

Ngā mihi whānau!

As I mentioned earlier, we’ve had many requests for custom mahi toi, so we thought it was the perfect time to share our Terms & Conditions to help everyone understand how our process works and what to expect when commissioning a piece.

TP Illustration and Design – Custom Work Terms & Conditions

Waitlist & Timeframes
There is usually a 2–3 week wait before we begin new commissions, as we work through projects in the order they are booked. We will keep you updated on expected start dates.

Creative Process
Creative mahi takes time and cannot be rushed. Each piece is carefully developed to honour the kaupapa and vision of the work. Deadlines will be discussed but must allow adequate time for the creative process.

Payment
A deposit of $200 (unless otherwise agreed) is required to confirm your commission.
The balance is due upon completion, before final files or artwork are released.
Payment is required in full once an invoice has been issued.

Revisions
A limited number of revisions are included in the process. Major changes outside the agreed scope may incur additional costs.

Usage Rights
The commissioned artwork is for the agreed purpose. TP Illustration and Design retains the right to display the work for portfolio and promotional purposes unless otherwise agreed.

Reproduction & Copyright
All designs remain the intellectual property of TP Illustration and Design. They may not be copied, reproduced, altered, resold, or used for purposes outside the agreed scope without prior written consent. Additional licensing may be arranged if required.

Communication
We provide updates during the process and welcome your feedback at key stages. Clear and timely communication ensures the best outcome for your mahi toi.

You might’ve noticed not many new kākahu designs popping up on our socials lately 👀 That’s because I’ve been flat out with commission mahi toi - something I absolutely love.

There’s nothing better than taking someone’s idea and turning it into mahi toi that either meets their brief perfectly…or surprises them in the best way ✨

If you’re keen on a commission, just a heads up: I’ve got a solid list I’m working through at the moment. I never rush mahi toi - each piece takes time, aroha, and detail. I want to be proud of every design I create, and for each customer to feel totally connected and satisfied with the outcome.

This commission was for Te Whai Hiringa in Flaxmere, created for their new Ngā Whare Wai Ora. The best part? Seeing the reaction of the ākonga when the designs were revealed - knowing they carry real meaning and a deep connection.

Kia ora e te whānau 👋

Life’s been full-on lately with some exciting custom mahi — a big painted mural (loving it!), carving restoration, and custom graphics in the mix.

I’m also studying towards a Certificate in Small Business through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. It’s been so good to dive deep into that space — a real whakaaro hākinakina (workout for the mind 🧠).

It’s got me thinking about all the amazing pakihi Māori out there doing incredible things — especially in the world of printing on kākahu.

So... what’s our point of difference? There are a few, but one key thing is: we design (by my hand) and print all in one place.

No outsourcing. No middle people. All under one roof.
