I have officially started editing my horror film! This first sequence is needed when filming the next so I had to get it done. It wont be long before I am editing all the rest of it, then before we know it it will be time to share it at Te Waiwhakaata Wairarapa Film Festival 🙂

I have been quiet because i have been rather busy. What did you spend your winter doing? This keen author spent it writing his 13th book. Starting in April I have spent every spare moment, early in the morning to late at night getting this project done, also taking time off as annual leave to spend it all writing. The result - Horyo : The Featherston Prisoner of War Camp. It's been quite the journey, and the challenge. I started researching this in 2018 and I have written it from two perspectives, the New Zealand and the Japanese. Imagine if two historians collaborated on this project, a Japanese and a New Zealander, that is how I have structured this book. Not particularly east to do but something I felt I had to do, it is a Japanese stroy as much as it is a New Zealand one so it needs to be told their way as well.
Next comes the editing and layout but for now I am going to take a bit of a break. I am very proud of how this has turned out and I look forward to sharing it with you all at Booktown in Featherston next year.

I have been busy over the last few weeks writing the next book, Horyo - The Featherston Prisoner of War Camp. I am into chapter 6 and am already at 34,000 words, several chapters to go. This is the culmination of eight years of research, it's great to finally be writing it. The full story has never been told and it's a real honor to be the one to do it. Horyo covers everything from the relations between Japan and the west after World War One, the changing situations and political environments in the 1920s and 1930s, the Pacific War, the Featherston Camp and then what happened after the camp closed, what was it used for after the war? And all the memorials and visits by former prisoners since. Launch will be at Booktown 2027, watch this space!

A certain Masterton memorial features towards the end of the video, it is brilliant that we are able to share our history with the world and it's awesome that others are able to share in it Semper Fi

I had to make a newspaper advert so I came up with this one, its based on the horror adverts you would see in the newspapers in the 1970s, in particular one of the best horrors ever made that came out 1973...
