Kia ora everyone just completed this traditional methods Te Tau Ihu Pounamu/jade sculpture.
Light green and a rare blue jade surprise inside.
Representing the start of one's journey showcasing some of the first steps our tipuna used to create Taonga using sandstones/hoanga and river gravels/sand to cut the Kohatu.
This stone i also smoothed on multiple surfaces with sandstones to make it a beautiful touchstone aswel, has not been oiled.
I collected this myself from the top of the south area and can disclose whakapapa of stone as to where it was collected.
Would make a awesome gift for someone starting a new journey in life, wananga to learn off or just an unique display piece. Stone is 4.9kg give or take on my scales.
