We couldn't be prouder of picking up the win for Best Innovation in Digital Storytelling at the Voyager Internet Ltd Media Awards last night for FAULTLINES. The judges comments sums up the sort of work we strive to do:
"North & South’s Faultlines was an immense, comprehensive undertaking that brought Kiwis exciting innovations that are usually only achievable by big international outlets with deeper pockets. Faultlines told a complex narrative in an accessible way, interwoven across platforms, and did an exceptional job of grabbing your attention — and then keeping it. The thoughtful use of graphics, video, animation, and still images was world-class and helped readers immersively explore a lesser-known but hugely important story. A masterclass in newsroom innovation."
Fault Lines tells the story of how we know a huge earthquake is imminent along New Zealand's Alpine Fault and how communities affected are preparing for it. It was a huge collaboration with North & South Magazine along with almost a dozen news outlets across the South Island. Thanks to NZ On Air
for funding it and the wonderful support from the AF8 agency in helping us craft the science.
