💸 The Bank Statement Challenge 💸 Would you be proud of your spending? 👀

This isn’t about cutting back — it’s about understanding where your money’s going 💡 and whether it’s actually supporting the life you want to live 💕

Step 1: Grab last month’s bank statements 📄
Sort your spending into simple categories like:
🛒 Groceries
🍔 Takeaways & Dining Out
⛽ Petrol/Transport
🎮 Gaming or Gambling
📺 Entertainment & Subscriptions
🛍️ Shopping & Impulse Buys
💳 Debt Repayments / Buy Now Pay Later (Afterpay, Zip, etc)

Step 2: Add up each category ➕
Then divide by 4 to get your average weekly spend 📊
This gives you a snapshot of your habits in real terms.

Step 3: Reflect 🤔
✨ Would I be happy looking back on this in a year?
✨ Was I spending from boredom, stress, survival… or purpose?
✨ Is there a goal I’d rather be putting my money toward?

If something feels off, ask yourself:
👉 What small change can I make going forward?

No guilt. Just awareness.
Because your money should support your values — not just your bills 💚

🎉 Final Session of MoneyMates Complete! 🎉

Last night we wrapped up one of our 6-week MoneyMates course — and what an incredible journey it’s been! A massive thank you to Brian, Chianti, and Madi for leading this round with such dedication and aroha. You’ve made a real difference!

This round was extra special as our participants were a passionate and engaged team from Best Care Whakapai Hauora . Their commitment to learning, sharing, and growing together was truly inspiring.

💬 Some of the powerful kōrero and achievements shared by the group:

✅ Paid off Afterpay
✅ Restarted lapsed payments via AP
✅ Changed spending habits
✅ Started regular savings
✅ Became more consciously aware of their finances
✅ Found value in kōrero with others in the group
✅ Got approved for a mortgage! 🏡
✅ Reframed a daunting savings goal into a side hustle opportunity
✅ Took accountability for spending
✅ Faced the challenge of reviewing bank statements — confronting but hugely beneficial for the whole whānau
✅ Thought they wouldn’t learn much… but found it incredibly helpful!

💚 Congratulations to everyone who participated — your courage and openness have made this a truly memorable round. Here's to many more!

💡 Budgeting isn’t just about cutting back!

Most people imagine it’s all about squeezing blood from a stone 🪨💸 — trimming every dollar till there’s nothing left.

At Moneywise, we do review expenses — that’s part of the journey. But we don’t stop there 🚀 Sometimes budgeting isn’t about squeezing the stone... it’s about pulling the sword from it ⚔️✨

Here’s how we help our clients grow:
✅ Spot hidden talents you didn’t know you had
✅ Explore creative ways to earn extra $$
✅ Build confidence while you're building savings

A great budget should feel empowering — like you’re steering the ship 🛶, not being tossed around by the waves 🌊

Budgeting = possibility, not punishment. 💪💚

🔍 Understanding Your Credit Score: Your Financial Footprint 👣

Let’s talk credit scores — because not knowing how they work can really trip people up, especially when they start getting in the way of things like renting a place or getting approved for a loan.

Your credit score isn’t just a number. It’s like a financial footprint 👣 — showing where you’ve been, how you’ve handled money, and how trustworthy you might seem to lenders, landlords, and even employers.

It can affect:
✅ Getting a loan or credit card
✅ Renting a home
✅ Setting up utilities or phone plans
✅ Even landing certain jobs

The good news? You can keep your credit report in good shape — and even fix it if things have gone a bit off track.
📋 Check what’s on your report
🛠️ Stay on top of payments
🔄 Know that it can be repaired

Missed payments or defaults aren’t the end of the road. With the right help and some steady effort, your score can bounce back — opening up new doors and opportunities.

💡 The more you know, the better you can plan. Let’s take control of your financial future.

🍔 Convenience Loans are like Financial Fast Food 💸

Quick and easy to get but just like fast food, they come with a high cost you might regret later.

DO:
✅ Check the "ingredients" – Read the loan terms carefully.
✅ Use them only when absolutely necessary.
✅ Have a plan to pay them off as fast as possible.

DON’T:
❌ Make them a regular habit.
❌ Ignore the "calories" (interest and fees) add up quickly.
❌ Overload on multiple loans at once

Just like fast food satisfies hunger but harms health long-term, convenience loans meet short-term needs but can damage your financial well-being.

💡 TIP: If you're unsure, reach out to budgeting services. They can help you weigh your options and make smarter financial choices.
