Landing on the moon is no small feat, nor is exposing your property to the market using all the possible tools to achieve your property's highest price possible. It will require the services of a genuine real estate and business professional with a proven track record. Brent has vast knowledge in the residential and commercial real estate industry and is a successful property developer, renovator, and investor. From his experience, he has a matrix type ability to see negotiations from both the vendors and purchasers perspective, making deals fall together seamlessly. Brent has also built a reputation for being a competent businessman, having recently sold a ground-up built business with over 600 active clients and built another to 300 active clients in only 12 months. These businesses were predominately built using modern marketing tactics, including social media, that many agents don't fully grasp or take advantage of, which can be detrimental to their vendor's bottom line. Brent loves the Bay Of Plenty; he is a well-known face around the Mount, Papamoa and Tauranga, whether you see him going up Pap hills, walking around the Mount, at the gym or in the surf waiting for a set. Feel free to say hi; he loves a good yarn, especially if it involves property! When Nasa invested billions into space exploration and building the rocket that first landed on the moon, did they then send any old person who could jump in a spacesuit? They sent the tried and true the best of the best! Your home is often the most significant financial investment you ever make, be wise, my friends and let Brent take off navigate then land that ship for you.

🚨🐧 BIRD FLU IS HERE — BUT OUR WILD PENGUINS STILL AREN’T BEING VACCINATED

New Zealand’s endangered yellow-eyed penguin is already fighting for survival. Now there’s another threat: bird flu.

Rosalie from Penguin Rescue says they’ve been pushing government departments for action, but while some captive birds have been vaccinated, they’ve seen no visible progress on vaccinating the wild birds they’re working to protect.

And when there are only around 350 yellow-eyed penguins — hoiho — remaining, time matters.

In Episode #10, Rosalie and I talk about the dramatic decline of the hoiho, bird flu, fishing, predators, disease, the realities of frontline conservation and what ordinary people can actually do to help.

🚨🐧 CAN WE SAVE NEW ZEALAND’S YELLOW-EYED PENGUIN BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE?

The yellow-eyed penguin — hoiho — is one of New Zealand’s most endangered species, and the numbers are frightening.

For Rosalie and the small team at Penguin Rescue, another huge season is about to begin.

Adult birds need vaccinating. Tiny chicks need caring for. From January, chicks will be brought in and hand-raised until they’re ready to fledge, taking pressure off their parents during what could become another starvation event.

And by March, they may even need to bring the adult birds in and feed them too.

Rosalie has dedicated a huge part of her life to giving these incredible birds a fighting chance.

In tomorrow’s episode of The Mile Extra, we talk about why the hoiho population has collapsed: predators, fishing, disease, conservation — and what ordinary New Zealanders can actually do to help.

💰 One $350,000 Win Can Pay for a Lot of Losses.

Dan’s biggest sports betting win?

$350,000.

But there’s a bigger lesson in the way he thinks about risk.

As you get more experienced, you get better at assessing opportunities. Your calculations improve. You become more selective about where you put your money.

And you don’t necessarily need every bet, investment or business decision to work.

Sometimes you can take 10 or 20 calculated swings, and one exceptional result can cover the losses — and then some.

The same thinking applies to business.

You’re going to get products wrong. You’re going to make mistakes. But when you eventually strike gold on the right opportunity, the upside can outweigh a lot of what didn’t work.

The key is surviving long enough, learning along the way and getting better at recognising those opportunities.

🏏 $500 at 51-to-1 — And It Changed Everything.

Dan’s first big sports betting win came from a Test match in Hamilton.

The forecast looked awful. South Africa still had a strong side, and New Zealand needed six wickets to win.

Dan saw something in the odds.

He put $500 on at 51-to-1.

The result?

$25,500.

And rather than simply rolling it into more bets, he used the money to help grow his business — buying stock, taking calculated risks and eventually helping bankroll his first store.

And that’s only the start of some of the stories in this episode.

Dan and I get into sports betting, some seriously big wins, calculated risk, building businesses, the supplement industry, sacrifice, work ethic and how he thinks about finding opportunities other people miss.

This is a wild conversation and one you don’t want to miss.

🚨 Stop taking advice from people who haven’t done what you’re trying to do.

Everyone has an opinion.

Very few have the results you actually want.

Most people don’t need more advice. They need better filters—and faster ex*****on.

Listen to people who have walked the path.

Stop explaining your choices to people living lives you don’t want.

Focus on the task in front of you. Spend more time around people who pull you upwards. Make the decision and get the work done.

Simple. Not easy.

💰 What Does It Actually Mean to Be Wealthy?

Everyone has a different number in their head when they think about wealth.

But mine is pretty simple:

You’re wealthy if you can spend your time doing something you love, and it makes you enough money that you don’t have to spend your life doing things you hate.

Nick Ririnui strongly agreed.

He’s built a life around music, teaching and performing. He might not describe himself as super rich, but he loves going to work, his family is looked after, and he gets to make a living doing something he genuinely enjoys.

That’s a pretty good definition of wealth.

In this episode, Nick and I talk music, discipline, building a career around your passion, money, lifestyle and what success actually looks like when you strip away the scoreboard.

A big thanks to Nick for coming on and sharing his story.

🎯 Focus Hard Enough and the Noise Starts to Get Quieter.

Nick Ririnui makes a really simple point here:

When you focus properly on one thing, a lot of the noise around you starts to fade.

The distractions get quieter.
The other thoughts get pushed aside.
And you can actually get into the work.

Nick also talks openly about looking into whether ADHD may be part of how his mind works, and how focus helps him manage a brain that can otherwise feel pretty noisy.

His takeaway is simple:

Focus on the thing. The more deeply you focus, the less room there is for the bu****it.

That applies to music, work, business, training, or anything else you’re trying to get better at.

🥁 Drums Are Easy to Learn… But Incredibly Hard to Master.

Nick Ririnui makes an interesting point about learning the drums:

They can be one of the easiest instruments to pick up and start playing.

But getting genuinely good is a completely different story.

It takes years of repetition. Sitting there doing the same things over and over again. Practising the fundamentals and putting in the boring work when nobody is watching.

And that lesson goes well beyond music.

Starting is one thing. Mastery comes from repetition.

In this conversation, Nick and I talk about music, discipline, making a living doing what you love, the realities of building a career as a musician, and the work that happens behind the scenes.

A big thanks to Nick for coming on and sharing his story.

👣 Big Goals Get Easier When You Make the Next Step Smaller...

Jeremy from .no.bs.property.guy makes a simple point about tackling things that feel overwhelming:

Don’t focus on the whole journey.

Focus on the next step.

If you want to buy an investment property but the idea feels intimidating, start by going to an open home.

If you want to get fitter, sign up for the gym or book a trial session.

You don’t need to solve everything at once.

Each small action removes a little bit of the unknown — and as the unknown disappears, so does a lot of the fear.

Jeremy also talks about the value of getting around people who are further ahead than you.

A coach, mentor or simply someone who has already done what you want to do can make the next step feel a lot more achievable.

Sometimes progress is just making the next move small enough that you actually take it.

🏘️ Why Your First Rental Probably Shouldn’t Be Your Riskiest...

Jeremy from .no.bs.property.guy is happy to take a punt on a riskier property — but only when the deal is good enough, and the rest of the portfolio can support it.

That’s the key.

If you own a large portfolio, one difficult property probably won’t hurt too much.

But if you’re buying your first rental and it goes wrong, it can set you back badly.

As you build more knowledge, equity and cash flow, you earn the ability to take on more complicated deals.

That can mean regional properties, higher-yield opportunities, or assets that need a bit more work — but the risk needs to fit the size and strength of the portfolio.

Jeremy also makes the point that places like Auckland can offer strong long-term appeal, but the cash flow can make it hard to build a portfolio there unless your income is high.

Sometimes the regions are where the numbers start to work.
