BATHURST BATTLES AND BITES BACK

Well here we are we've finally made it to the end of the season for the VEE EIGHTS! 13 rounds, 10 months and its all over for another year

As you can tell it was retro round for our final round and it was a long 250KM solo endurance race to finish off the championship, Matt came in with a slight chance to clinch the championship but not enough cars entered to make the points gap if he was to win so once that was settled it was about going out on a high

15 minutes of qualifying around the mountain goes by in a flash but Dion managed to get his 'DJR' Falcon in 4th place and Matt in his 'Cat' Falcon 8th.

Both the lads got off the line well and by lap 3 Dion was up to 2nd with Matt in 4th after the two leaders took each other out. Things were going quite smoothly settling into a rhythm on a very hot track to start. Then on lap 8 Matt locked the rears into the last corner but luckily no damage.

Lap 15 and it was time to grab some new boots and some fuel for the first of our 2 compulsory pit stops. From there it was a case of keeping it on the road as the fog rolled in and the track cooled down. Matt had a silly half spin and ended up with front end damage being a couple of laps down.

By the end of the race it was Dion crossing the line in P6 and finishing 6th equal in the championship! Matt crossed the line in P15 and 2nd in the championship (the dreaded 2nd curse carries on!)

We couldn't of have had these awesome results without the awesome support and products of our sponsors

And of course we can't forget about Dion! Dion is wearing the colours of the 1998 Shell V-Power Racing Team DJR Falcons. This iconic paint really stands out and looks great on the FG Falcon.

Dion is currently 8th in the standings but a really good Bathurst could see him as high as 5th

Make sure you tune in next Saturday night as we also have a special announcement to make after the racing is complete

Bring on the last round!

This time next week is the decider for the VEE EIGHTS and it's Retro Round, first up we have Matt who's decided to go for John Bowe's/ Jim Richards 1999 Bathurst AU Ford Falcon. Matt is 90 points off the championship lead. While not impossible he will need a lot of luck to go his way!

Make sure you tune in next Saturday night as we also have a special announcement to make after the racing is complete

SANDOWN, SAN'UP', SANDOWN, SAN'UP'

Round 12 of the VEE EIGHTS certainly had everything, if you haven't watched it we suggest you go back and watch it! Coming into the round Matt was back into 2nd in the championship but 150 points behind needed a really good round to keep the championship alive in this 40 minute race.

Qualifying first up for a quick 10 minute session saw Dion qualify P2 and Matt P3. By the time the green flag and we got to turn 1 it was Dion who had got the jump and lead the field for the first few laps. Matt lost a spot at turn 1 and from there it was a big draft train for the next few laps. Lap 5 and a dive bomb on Matt caused contact damaging his steering but then a track blockage 2 corners later caused him to stop and wait for a clear path. Lap 6 as we were going to a safety car Dion was then spun out at turn 1 which dropped him to 2nd as the safety car entered the track. Both the lads pitted and it Matts case twice to fix the damage to avoid being lapped.

Safety car pulled off and it was a case of pass as many cars as possible for both as some cars had pitted and some not. Dion has made his way from 7th to 3rd and at lap 18 decided he wasn't going to make it on fuel and pitted for a splash and dash. Lap 22 and going from 13th the 2nd Matt decided to start fuel saving as he thought he could make it home, he was also reeling in the leader but had a couple of cars behind on new tyres coming through. 4 laps to go and the leader was in fuel trouble but unfortunately Matt was turned around by a car on newer tyres dropping him to 4th. Coming into the last lap the leader ran out of fuel and the car now in first had a 10 second penalty which meant the final positions were Matt P2 and Dion P4!

As we said make sure you watch the race back, it was all on! We have one round left around Bathurst and it's also Retro Round! Stay tuned to see our liveries :D

PACE ✅ LUCK? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Round 11 of the VEE EIGHTS was held on Friday night at Iola, a great circuit full of high speed and low speed corners. With 3 rounds left in the championship it was game on.

Qualifying as usual was a 10 minute session with Dion P3 and Matt P5 with only 1 second covering the top 12.

It was a 40 minute single race format for the night and both Dion and Matt got away well. Lap 4 and Matt managed to sneak past P4 putting him behind Dion who had gone off after the leaders. Lap 9 and the safety car was called as the boys headed for the lane to get some fuel and tyres. On the restart Matt was half spun at turn 1 putting him towards the rear of the field as Dion carried on in P3. But then on lap 14 Dion was turned around at the hairpin and sent to the rear as the whole field came through.

Matt managed to make a bit of ground back up to get to P10 despite a silly spin on the last lap where he gassed it up too much out of the hairpin. Ironically Dion also managed an off on the final lap at the hairpin as well putting him home in p17.

Only 2 rounds left at Sandown and Bathurst with the championship now looking like a very outside chance so we will be 100% focused on race wins.
