There's less than a week till we announce the winners of the 2025 Science Journalism Awards! Our judges have done an incredible job picking the top two stories from a very impressive bunch. One of these finalists is Kate Evans's remarkable tale in New Zealand Geographic of the threats to the seemingly ubiquitous red-billed gull.
