Choosing the right screen size isn’t just about how big your hall is. It’s about ensuring every person in the room can see clearly, from the front row to the back wall. Here’s how to get it right:
1. Measure Viewing Distance
The farthest viewer in your hall should be able to clearly read and see what’s on screen.
As a general rule:
Screen width should be at least 1/6 to 1/8 of the distance to the furthest seat.
Example:
If the back of your hall is 24m from the stage, your screen should be 3–4m wide.
2. Consider the Content
For assemblies, presentations, and text-based content, opt for a larger screen to improve readability.
For video, performances, and digital backdrops, a screen with high contrast and vivid colour matters even more.
3. Match Aspect Ratios
LED walls work best when sized to match common aspect ratios (like 16:9), especially if you’re mirroring content from a laptop, Apple TV, or media player.
4. Factor in the Room Use
Is your hall also used for:
PE or ball sports? → Consider a more durable COB (Chip on Board) screen
Productions and events? → Larger screens make a dramatic impact
Day-to-day teaching or digital signage? → Moderate size with high clarity may be ideal
