A long time ago, when I was maybe 13 or so on holiday at Front Beach, I happened to be painting a picture, actually on the beach.. I was going through a Toss Woolaston phase at the time & my 8 year old sister Vivienne comes over, no doubt thinking it interesting that I'd moved out of my Colin McCahon phase & she has a good look at what I'm doing..
Well, pretty soon, I've nailed the beachside painting & I ask Vivienne if she would like to sign it at the bottom. This she does.
Then I say to Vivi: take this painting into Mum and Dad in the bach and tell them you did it.
From that moment on, Mum and Dad thought Vivi was a genius.
Luckily, no one has ever thought to question this logic.
And so it should be.
