Welcome to the world, Tarot #10! You can find it here: http://www.tarotpoetry.nz/

This edition sees a small refresh of the journal's design—it should now be a little easier to read on phones, for instance—and we've included more poems in this edition than ever before! Still, the same level of care and detail has been taken into selecting and ordering these poems, so we hope you thoroughly enjoy leafing through this issue's virtual pages.

The plaintext versions are also live on the website; if you see a poet you particularly like, you can find them in the poet directory and read what they have published in other editions.

As always, we are open to receiving your submissions on a rolling basis, including submissions of cover art. Due to some recent changes in the selection process, your wait time should be greatly reduced, so please consider submitting earlier rather than later to avoid a bottleneck! Please refer to the submission guidelines on the website for more.

Tarot #8 is nearly here. In the meantime, here's an opportunity to be surveyed for a research project:

Have you ever read, submitted, been published in, or been part of a team creating a literary publication?

We want to hear from you! Fill in our 15-minute survey and go into the draw to win one of five $30 book vouchers.
UC PhD Student and former chair of takahē magazine, Chelsea Houghton is researching production and engagement in the New Zealand literary scene in the digital age.
The survey aims to understand how audiences engage with literary publications in New Zealand, how technology has changed the way readers/writers access and interact with these, and how creating and publication has changed in the digital age.
We are interested in all forms of experience, however "small" or "big".
Share your experience as a reader, writer, contributor, or literary enthusiast and support the creative industries in Aotearoa New Zealand at the same time (with no money, just a little bit of your time).
You can find the survey here: https://canterbury.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5nadt3Qr0tkhxSC

Please share it with any other writing enthusiasts in your life so we can understand and make an impact. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Kia ora poetry lovers,

Tarot #6 is here and looking good. It features 48 poems from 27 poets, most of whom are new to the Tarot family. Grab a cuppa and enjoy! http://www.tarotpoetry.nz/

This edition opens with a brief editorial about generative AI, like ChatGPT, and its impact on the writing industry. I’ve been thinking a lot about this emerging technology—I’m far more excited than I am nervous—so I hope you enjoy reading some of my thoughts there.

You can read the current and past issues of Tarot on the website, either in a flipbook format or as a PDF, and all 100+ poets who have been published over the last two and a half years also have their own page on the website where you can read their poems. In the short time Tarot has been around, we’ve had 10,000 visitors and 23,000 site visits——keep on reading, poetry lovers!

As always, we are open to receiving your submissions. Please refer to the submission guidelines on the website.

Ngā mihi nui,
Kit Willett
