Diwali is the five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world and in our community here in Upper Hutt. Diwali celebrates victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
The festival is usually held between October and November, with the date changing each year according to the lunar calendar.
The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning rows of lighted lamps. 🪔🪔🪔
Happy Diwali to you and yours Upper Hutt, take care with lamps and candles!
