I was honoured to be invited to play the pre-party set for an event promoted by For-tunes, with Sanoi from Auckland headlining. The theme was Underwater World, which inspired me to craft a set that felt like a sonic journey beneath the waves—beginning with a descent into the deep and culminating in a dancefloor hidden under the sea.

Almost at the last minute, I had the idea to add ambient sound effects to enhance the immersion. Remembering that my neighbour is a sound designer, I purchased a beach ambience library from his shop, Hissandaroar. The wave sounds that open and close the set were actually recorded on the beach just down the road from my home.

Originally from Somerset in South West England, Ravey Davey has been passionate about electronica since the late 70s. His love for the genre flourished in the 90s, attending iconic festivals like Tribal Gathering and Universe, where he enjoyed performances by Orbital, Moby, The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield, and Underworld.

Davey, primarily a music enthusiast, has amassed a vast collection of electronica. He enjoys delving into the works of his favorite artists, their collaborations, and other artists on the same labels.

In 2012, David relocated to Wellington. In early 2024 Ravey Davey connected with the local underground scene. Known for quietly absorbing the vibe on the dance floor, Davey is now eager to share his passion through carefully curated music sets designed to take listeners on a journey.
