No one should go without medicine because they can’t afford it. Labour will remove the pointless $5 fee on prescriptions to make them free.

When medicine’s free, people don’t go without. They stay well, stay out of hospital, and that eases the pressure on our whole health system.

Labour is focussed on policy that makes a real difference for Kiwis. Today’s announcement that all maternity scans will be fully covered by the Medicard, does just that.

Cost should never be a barrier from knowing that your child is healthy and okay. Scans can cost up to $90 depending on where you live but we’re promising free scans across the country.

We had a fantastic day out on the doors speaking to the residents of Seatoun today. We have been loving the opportunity to speak to our community so far and are looking forward to further discussions with the people of Wellington Bays.

Fantastic news that Labour is pledging a fare cap of $20 per week. We’ve been hearing from residents that cost of living and transport fares are important issues to them, and this policy will make a typical couple who use public transport to get to work around $2,500 a year better off. Real, targeted cost of living relief is on the horizon, vote Labour in Wellington Bays, and help us make this a reality in 2026.

Labour’s will cap fares in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch at $20 a week, and $10 everywhere else. Once you reach the cap, the rest of your trips for the week are free.
