Are you ready feel inspired by creating content again?

At the end of 2025 I was ready to give up… and then I decided to learn everything again.

I decided to set myself a goal and post 5 pieces of content every single day. That’s 150 pieces to content every month 🤯 with the theory that if I post lots I’ll learn FAST.

And no one was more surprised than me with it worked.

The more I posted the more I noticed trends in the types of hooks that work. They have a structure and a format. But the key features are:
- they capture attention in the first 0.5 seconds
- they’re extremely specific (this is counterintuitive)
- they usually identify a negative trait that someone is trying to fix.

I popped all of my hooks into a spreadsheet and started recording their success, and their features… and because I was so proud of this data collection I decided to turn it into a Hook writing guide to help you write hooks that get more views and help you get more followers.

The biggest lesson I’ve learnt this year is that 99% of small businesses are overthinking their content.

Creating content that feels like it’s your friend posting is the biggest marketing flex. Don’t believe me? The biggest brands in the world are creating content that looks like social media.

Nike doesn’t just post polished campaign photos.

Apple doesn’t just post product shots.

Coca-Cola doesn’t just post logo-heavy graphics.

Because people don’t open social media to be sold to. They open it to be entertained. To learn something. To connect with someone.

That’s why something you created in 5 mins often does better than the thought out content that took you 3 hours to film, 627 hours to edit and only got 7 views.

And I say all of this to tell you that this can be your super power. Because creating this kind of content is easy… but getting someone to stop scrolling is harder.

❌ Don't make this mistake ❌
Most small businesses make the mistake of assuming that everyone who is watching has seen your business or your content before... WRONG.

I hate to remind you, BUT the average user sees 10,000 pieces of content EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And TBH your content just isn't that memorable... yet (don't worry, I'm going to help you with that).

Every one of your posts should have what you're all about. Maybe its your location, your hours and what you specialise in... maybe its your website or your email so people can contact you... what ever it is, it should look something like this:

All I did was change this one thing… and instagram no longer hates me 😅

The hook. I worked on one thing: not better photos or better editing (although they happen along the way…) but how do I capture someone’s attention in the first 0.5 seconds?

I wrote my whole strategy in a hook guide that helps you write better hooks, just comment HOOK to get the guide sent to your inbox.

And for those of you who made it this far I want you to use this hook right now (and then come back and tell me how it went):
HOOK:
Hi, my name is [name] and Instagram hates me.

IDEA:
This works perfectly as a carousel like my one here but it would also be great as a reel. After that first hook, go on to tell the audience that Instagram hates you even though you [describe the thing you do best] eg. Make great Italian food, make the best workout leggings for women who like to lift, take amazing photos for female entrepreneurs. And then ask people to comment or follow you 😉 that’s it!

After posting 150 reels in one month (that make me tired just saying out loud), I realised that cool editing, or a beautifully written caption doesn’t matter unless you can get people to watch with this one thing.

I discovered the first step to great content is a great hook.

So I studied them (actually I got a bit obsessed).

What are they? What makes a great hook? How do you capture attention and speak to a specific customer in the first 0.5 seconds they see your content?

So I studied hundreds of hooks and tested thousands of variations… and guess what happened?

I GREW!! My account grew for the first time in YEARS 😮 (no one was more shocked than me 😅).

I wrote them all down and I noticed 5 main trends in the types of hooks that do well on both reels and carousels.

They’re fast, easy and formulaic: so you can automate your content and get more views.
