Our ANZAC discus champions are both through to the final!! ITM24 champ, Aussie Olympic bronze medallist Matt Denny threw the big Q to go straight in, and our own Connor Bell, ITM23 champ, also got through in 11th spot.

Well done lads - looking forward to seeing you ripping them out in the final, almost as much as we'll look forward to the return leg at ITM26!!

Sadly our brave British lads, Lawrence Okoye and Nick Percy, didn't get through to the final. Other ITM athletes to have competed in qualifying in the last couple of days were Ethan Olivier (NZ) and Connor Murphy (Aust) in the triple jump, but unfortunately neither of them made it to the final either. Mia Gross also led off for the Aussies in the 4x400 qualifying, but despite clocking a season's best, they didn't progress.

An action packed couple of days for our ITM stars - Tom Walsh an impressive but agonising 4th, only missing a medal on countback, Hamish Kerr safely through to the final after a marathon qualifying session, and Zoe Hobbs with another world class performance just 6/100ths of a second from making the 100m final.

Elsewhere our other local favourites Sam Tanner and Lauren Bruce had solid days but struck tough competition and didn't progress, with Aussie sprinter Ella Connolly in the same boat.

It’s go time in the World Champs from Tokyo today - this morning we saw our big man Tom Walsh qualify top for the final of the Shot Put with a performance of 21.74, while our 2024 champ Nick Palmer threw an impressive 20.18 for 15th in his first world champs.
Tonight we’ve got Kiwi Geordie Beamish in the steeplechase heats at 9pm, our sprint queen Zoe Hobbs at 10pm in the 100m heats (along with one of our favourite Aussies, Ella Connolly), and Walsh going for gold at midnight against past Big Shot/ITM athletes Ryan Crouser & Konrad Bukowiecki.
Let’s go!!!

One of the more inspirational stories in sport - back in 2009-2010, Josh Komen was a gutsy and talented 800m runner, who both competed in and ran as a pacemaker for the very first editions of the International Track Meet.

More than 15 years on, after one of the most incredible journeys anyone could have imagined, he's represented our country at the World Transplant Games.

We salute you, Josh.

The World Transplant Games marked his dream of representing New Zealand on the track.
