This is not just a church! It is the first of its kind I ever visited so I was in awe about it and learned many new things! 🙏🏼⛪️
The National Christian Centre in Abuja, and its design immediately stands out from traditional churches I’ve visited around the world.
It’s an interdenominational church, meaning it was created for Christians from different denominations rather than belonging exclusively to Catholics, Anglicans, Baptists or another single branch of Christianity.
That explains its unusual circular interior. Instead of a traditional long nave with the altar at one end, the altar sits centrally and it can actually ROTATE so the person leading the service can address different sections of the congregation.
Add the huge stained-glass windows, massive pipe organ and space for thousands of worshippers and you get one of Abuja’s most interesting buildings.
A very different piece of Christian architecture in the heart of Nigeria’s capital.
