Ecto-1 is back on the road, but the portal is wide open. After the catastrophic events of the Ice Empire, the containment unit is severely unstable, causing small but frequent 'spectral breaches' across the globe. Ghostbusters 5: Spectral Breach forces the new generation - and the surviving originals - to confront a terrifying truth: the boundaries between dimensions are collapsing, and Earth is becoming a crossroads for entities far more dangerous than any class 5 ghost.
Callie Spengler (Carrie C**n) and Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd) are trying to balance running the newly expanded Ghostbusters training academy in Oklahoma with their family lives, while Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) are leading the response to the rifts, from spontaneous gravity invasions in Tokyo to medieval spirits materializing in London.
The core of the crisis lies with a massive, ancient entity known as the Architect, who uses dimensional rifts to rebuild the universe in its own image. The team must work with Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), who believes the answers lie deep within a mystical library he secretly founded. Phoebe is forced to travel between dimensions, using her grandfather Egon's theoretical particle research, to confront the Architect directly. This time, proton packs are not enough; Ghost hunters must fight a war across space and time to close the universe before reality fully sets in.
