Recent Lynbrook High School graduate Christopher Paladino, 18, will be venturing to South Korea to try out for the Korea Lacrosse Association’s Men’s National Team. The month-long tryout experience from Jul. 28 to Aug. 25 reflects years of hard work, dedication, and the process of Paladino reclaiming his Korean nationality as an adoptee.

BREAKING ‼ Hempstead Town Supervisor Donald X. Clavin Jr. resigned during Tuesday's town board meeting, and Nassau County Legislator John Ferretti was appointed as the interim supervisor.

“I want to say what an honor and a privilege and a friendship all of you have been. And to the residents, you have always been very kind to me,” said Clavin, "I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve all of you. Even the critics have been the nicest people in the world to me. And I wish all of you the greatest success, and God bless you and God bless America.”

“As Lynbrook Village Historian I often get calls and emails from residents about some facet of Lynbrook’s history, but I was surprised when I received an email inquiry from an art collector living in the seaport city of Le Havre, France. Jean Pierre Miel wrote that he had just purchased a 188-year-old painting, “Le Naufrage du Mexique” (“The Wreck of the Mexico”), by noted French maritime artist, Louis Garneray (1783-1857).”

Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, Lynbrook and East Rockaway High Schools will be implementing recent New York legislation that requires all school districts with a high school to select a student Board of Education representative. Lynbrook High School junior Jackson Bowler will serve as the inaugural student representative, with his one-year term beginning on July 1.

Ruffino Ristorante, a staple in the Lynbrook community for over five decades, reopened its doors on June 30 following a six-month closure due to a fire that occurred just days before Christmas.

Located at 139 Lakeview Ave, the family-owned Italian restaurant hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion, attended by Mayor Alan Beach and other local government officials.

After more than a decade in the classroom, Jessica Anastasio has traded lesson plans for yoga mats and opened Little Lotus, a children’s yoga and open play studio, at 137 Lakeview Ave.

“I just saw the magic of what movement can do for kids, and how it can help them learn and how it could help them grow,” Anastasio said.
