We were truly honored to be invited to document the culturally significant and unique "Pongo" feast—translated in the Selau language as "the last feast"—held in honor of the Late Paramount Chief Michael Kiwa.
Chief Kiwa was a respected leader of the chieftain system that extended from Hanahan in Buka Island to Tsiungpetz on Bougainville Island, with his base at Tsuwana in Sorom, Selau District, North Bougainville.
Attending and capturing this important cultural event has deepened our understanding of the rich traditions and customs of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
