Villagers from Masiga - Koyafaiufa, Unggai LLG in the Unggai Bena district came in today for their official SMU Awarenes meeting. Masiga is yet another interested village coming in to join SMU and the spread of this Self-Help development concept.
About 42 Villagers, including their leaders came in to sit with SMU Director Mr. Enoch Yabimo at the DALF Office conference room for their introduction to the concept of SMU and their requirements for this self - help project implementation. Village Leader Simon Sambai, after thanking the office for the awareness introductory meeting, then assures the office that he would mobilize his work towards implementing SMU self-help project and bring much needed change into his community. He also requested help and support from SMU so as to go wrong with implementation of the SMU concept and principles.
The Masiga village to SMU model of community development is one of the "ripple effect" of Kamufere SMU Village who is currently an SMU pilot village(2024-2025).

Village Leaders from the Finimo village -Avaninofi, Henganofi district, came in for their official SMU concept awareness and orientation meeting at the EHPDALF West Goroka. Finimo village have seen and heard from Fagonofi SMU Pilot project village and are now going into village clean up and beautification. As a 'Ripple Effect' village of Fagonofi SMU, SMU leaders from Fagonofi Village visits and assist them in their village mobilization. Finimo is being lead by a woman leader who is active and has the desire to see her village change. Well done đź‘Ź Avaninofi and Finimo.

New Interest villages from around EHP are coming in to join SMU. Villagers from Sipiga, Goroka district, Avaninofi 024-Henganofi district and Kumuina,Henganofi district have come through out last week to SMU Office to join this new movement. SaeMaul Undong development concept is making big waves in EHP with villages taking their village development into their own hands. Mr. Enoch Yabimo at the SMU office DALF was busy last week having introductory meetings with these villages making them aware of the concept, its history and the concept implementation expectations. Villages are struggling for development and changes to happen in their communities.
With this SMU concept they see themselves taking part in a global effort to address developmental issues and also their struggles. These villages are pleased take part in SMU.
More villages and their leaders are expressing interest and are task to mobilize their villagers and bring them in for this formal concept orientation meeting with the SMU staff at EHPDALF complex.
Our office under the new DPLLG in as yet not allocated and awaiting restructure. The SMU Team (PNG -EHP) is still working towards the assimilation of project office arrangement and structure however we welcome you those with heart and will to change and development to come by anytime.

H.E. Ambassador Choi Jongho visit Saemaul (SMU) villages in EHP this week on his first trip to the Province. He visited two model village of Kafana and Kafuku around the Goroka area and two new pilot village of Kamufere in the outsketch of Goroka District and Fagonofi in the Henganofi district. There are other two SMU Model village of Henagaru in the Okapa district and Bush Bata in Unggai Bena District not visited due to busy schedule. There are also two other new pilot villages not visited that is Minda from Daulo district and Kafetugu in the Unggai Bena district.
These SMU villages have been practicing the Saemaul Undong (SMU) concept or development that is focal in the fast development rate of South Korea. PNG is trialing pilot implementation in EHP which the Ambassador is here and doing site visits.
The Ambassador traveled through the province visiting these project villages who have been funded by the Korean SMU Center during his travels to visit Norikori rice farming site in the Obura - Waninara district .
