My father David Yaninen celebrated his 77th birthday a few days ago. One lesson he gave me when I was 7 years old was to always finish what I start. Don't start something, lusim, start something else, lusim, etc. Your life will be a string of unfinished and half done projects.

I always keep that in mind when doing anything 🙏

During our 2024 National Census work in the rural village of Kokopo, East New Britain, we encountered a woman with an extraordinary past. Her life spans some of the most significant events of the 20th century, providing a unique perspective on the region's history. Born in the early 1900s, she lived through World War I (1914-1918), a period marked by the transition from German to Australian control in Papua New Guinea.

She also witnessed the intense period of World War II (1939-1945), during which East New Britain, particularly Rabaul, became a focal point of conflict in the Pacific. The Japanese occupation and the subsequent battles would have brought significant challenges and disruptions to her daily life. Adding to these historical events, she survived the catastrophic 1937 Rabaul volcanic eruption, which destroyed much of the town and caused numerous casualties.

Her resilience in the face of these challenges is remarkable. Following World War II, she saw the region rebuild under Australian administration, leading up to Papua New Guinea's independence in 1975. Her experiences reflect the broader historical and social changes that have shaped East New Britain and the nation. The politician will do whatever they wish, we ordinary citizens will talk, talk and talk but we can't change anything at their level, don't talk about them , yupla sa pasim eye na makim ol leader blo yupla long m yupla pelim pain na toktok or wastim time blo yupla ya lusim please. Your such suggestions on Facebook, watsapp and other social media platforms will not influence the politicians to change anything, they have been in the political arena for years and they have their own political language to deal with the matters in the closed doors , we can come up or make up some suggestions and ideas by collecting the disseminated information from the social media and gathering altogether and discussing about the current situation but we can't get into the system to manipulate the system. Therefore, as a ordinary citizen of this beautiful country suggesting that , can we as a fellow citizen of this country can come up with a strategy and sought this issue out at our level???

For example, can all citizen of this country go for a nation's protest and let's create some chaos so that we can get the attention of the nation and the leaders and the international community about our government so that we can contribute little progress of the status of our country. Yupla go lo Facebook na watsapp na kainkain hap na tok m olsem olsem na m bi kamap olsem ya , it will not work out that way as you are suggesting, do something to get the attention, if you can stand for your right as a citizen of this country let's do something, noken pirap pirap lo olgeta hap olsem you are one of the qualified experts of the political issue of this country, just a simple thought for tonight.
