By Red Alert Team | Kokopo, East New Britain
The Gazelle International Hotel experienced a vibrant surge of activity over the weekend as more than 270 tourists visited the iconic Emma’s Steps, one of Kokopo’s most recognisable historical and cultural landmarks.
Hotel management confirmed that the influx of visitors reflects growing interest in East New Britain’s tourism attractions as the festive and travel season continues to peak across the region.
In addition to touring the scenic and symbolic stairway, 40 guests chose to enjoy a specially prepared lunch at the hotel, adding to what staff described as a “lively and memorable weekend.”
“We were thrilled to welcome such an impressive number of tourists,” hotel representatives said. “We are proud to play a part in showcasing East New Britain’s unique heritage and hospitality to the world.”
Local tourism operators have praised the turnout, noting that increased visitor numbers help boost the province’s economy and highlight its potential as a must-visit destination for both domestic and international travellers.
With future tours and events planned, Gazelle International Hotel says it remains committed to enhancing visitor experiences and promoting the historical charm of Emma’s Steps.
