On the nature of sin...
Christianity in the western world tends to be oppressive to having a good time, ya got to be good or you are going to hell, blah blah blah. Crowley and Anton Lavey come along and they start saying "indulge, give in to your vices, that's our new cult!" And many magicians followed headlong with great joy down that path to nowhere, simply because it freed them from the morals of the church. But in the process they lost the original point of religion. Because religion had become a way of controlling society through rules rather than a search for actual spiritual experiences. Take Jesus for example, Jesus said that all the miracles he was doing could be done by anyone, and all his direct disciples displayed these powers. But eventually things got lost along the way and what they were doing became a religion, based on faith rather than practices such as fasting and celibacy and direct communication with angels. Jesus talked to angels, the Bible tells us so. So doesn't that mean we should talk to angels? Yet no Christian churches are doing that these days or talk about it. What happened? What is missing?
So how do ya get in direct contact with the angels, or demons, fairies, or even ghosts for that matter? Well, according to the old grimoires you got to get Holy. You got to get clean, in your body and mind. You clean the body through fasting, dietary changes, etc. and you clean the mind through sincere prayer, confessing your sins and asking God to help you walk in the path of righteousness, or if you don't think you can pray, meditation can do it if it is the true meditation from the ancient sources. Unfortunately, so many of the damn black magicians, the Satanists, the Thelemites, the vampire wannabees, running headlong into their imagined freedom become slaves to their vices, and they never get pure enough to know the real magic or see the Holy Guardian Angel. I condemn no one and am a great sinner, but sometimes I see the sun shining through the clouds. True freedom is not freedom to indulge in your vices, but freedom FROM those vices so you can be holy enough to know true power. Believe me, I never thought I would be talking about holiness, but here we are.
