NO GRADE 8 DROP OUTS AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR MIDDLE RAMU DISTRICT.
While many parents welcome this news, some of us are wary as I write with fear and trepidation.
The main question is; "Is Middle Ramu equipped to handle overcrowding of grade 9s in the year 2026 onwards??"
1. Do we have enough classrooms in the district?
2. Do we have enough teachers?
3. Do we have enough teacher's houses to accommodate these grade 9 teachers?
The National Government is keen to make changes in our education system but they have never fully developed infrastructures in our districts beforehand to ensure these changes will work.
This change will bring about "QUANTITY OVER QUALITY"! This is one key reason why we are currently having many grade 8 , 10 and 12 drop outs, whose IQ are ridiculously low compared to drop outs of the yesteryears. For example, I'm a grade 10 drop out of 1988 in Tusbab Provincial High School but comparatively with today's grade 10, I surely believe, my writing is better. Mi no boast. So Middle Ramu, are we ready as a district to embrace this change in the district and come out better? Or, are we doomed because of the points I mentioned above?
The District must brace itself to absorb this and begin building more classrooms, teacher's houses, dormitories and materials for the students. Furthermore, the DDA must identify and sponsor students to Teachers Colleges, create job opportunities or investments for parents to continue paying higher school fees since many in the district still can't afford primary school etc.
Just random thoughts on this topic.
