NO COMPENSATION โ JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL
Relatives from Eastern Highlands Province of the two young girls who were tragically burnt to death three weeks ago on the outskirts of Mt. Hagen Cityโfollowing tensions related to the Local Level Government Electionsโarrived in Mt. Hagen this afternoon.
They presented their petition to the MP for Hagen Open, Hon. William Duma, and the Governor of Western Highlands Province, Hon. Wai Rapa, with a copy also sent to the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Western Highlands, John Sangom.
Governor Hon. Wai Rapa and Hon. Minister Duma, upon receiving the petition, assured the families and the public that they are working closely with police to ensure all culprits are arrested and brought to justice. They emphasized that only the rule of law will prevail.
The PPC of Western Highlands Province also delivered a strong message to their police officers, urging them to act decisively on this case. They stressed that once both sides provide clear and complete statements, police will proceed based on those reports to ensure that justice is served without fear or favor.
Police have confirmed that six suspects have already been arrested and placed in custody, as investigations continue to identify and apprehend all remaining individuals involved.
