We need this kind of productive students, we don't need TikTok dancers 🙏🙏
🇵🇬 Meet Pearson Kumbigi – The Developer Behind “MyNID PNG” 👏
A final-year student from Divine Word University, Pearson has built a beta MyNID PNG, a cross-platform app that allows citizens to apply for their National ID (NID) right from their phone or computer. 💻📱
Still in development but it could mean no more standing in long queues or waiting for months!
✅ Apply online from home
✅ Upload your photo and fingerprints
✅ Track your application in real time
✅ Receive your NID e-copy once approved
The app can also help NID officers process applications quickly and transparently — cutting down on lost forms, delays, and unnecessary travel. 🕒
👉 Still in beta It’s a strong step toward a secure, cyber-compliant system built to meet data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity standards — showing that PNG’s tech talent is ready for the future. 🔒
Inspired by systems like India’s Aadhaar 🇮🇳 and Estonia’s e-ID 🇪🇪, Pearson designed the app to suit PNG’s needs — especially for rural communities who struggle to access government services.
💬 “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
Pearson is doing exactly that — bringing smart, secure, and practical solutions to national problems and proving that young Papua New Guineans can drive real change. 🇵🇬
🧠 Maybe it’s time a similar app is designed for the National Census under NSO — a digital solution that could save time, money, and resources across the country.
Now the real question is… where are those 22,000 tablets worth over K17 million that were meant for the National Census? 🤔📲
