🐚 Proposal for the New NRL Team Name:
PNG Kina Shells
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a land of rich culture, heritage, and identity, where every symbol carries a story, and every tradition reflects pride. As we prepare to welcome our very own NRL team into the world stage, it is vital that our team’s name captures the spirit of unity, identity, and value that all Papua New Guineans can proudly stand behind. That is why I put forward the name: PNG Kina Shells 🐚 Why “Kina Shells”?
#1. Cultural Value Before the modern Kina currency, were used as money and were deeply valued across PNG. They were not just a medium of exchange but a symbol of Wealth, Honour, and prestige in both Highlands and Coastal communities in PNG. #2.Unity Across Regions: The Kina Shell holds equal respect in the Highlands, Coastal, and Islands regions, making it the one symbol that unites the entire nation. Unlike animals, birds, or plants that are tied to specific areas, the Kina Shell is universal across PNG.
#3. Unique Identity While other sports teams in PNG have drawn their names from birds (Kumul, Hunters) or other powerful creatures, the Kina Shell remains untouched and unique. This gives our NRL team a distinct, powerful brand that stands apart and tells the world: “This is PNG.” #4. Symbol of Strength and Value: Just as the Kina is the national currency, the Kina Shell represents value, pride, and strength. Our players will wear the Kina Shell with honor, reminding everyone that they carry the worth of the entire nation on their shoulders.
#5. Slogan / Motto “Valued by All, Feared by Many.” The PNG Kina Shells will represent a team that is both treasured by its people and respected by its opponents.
Logo Description Central Symbol: A stylized Kina Shell 🐚, glowing in gold to represent value. Colours:
#1.Gold → Symbol of wealth and pride (Kina currency).
#2. Red & Black → National PNG colors.
#3. Green → Represents land, culture, and unity.
