RIGO DDA RECEIVES VEHICLES TO SUPPORT DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWER LOCAL COMMUNITIES
-Statement-
The Honourable Sir Ano Pala, KBE CMG ISO MP, Member for Rigo and Minister for National Planning and Monitoring, today formally presented three vital service vehicles to the Rigo District Development Authority (RDDA) in a move aimed at strengthening social support systems, enhancing rural agricultural capacity, and aligning with the District’s Five-Year Development Plan.
The vehicle handover, included:
• 1 x Open-back Toyota Landcruiser
[Technical Support]
• 1 x Double-cab Toyota Landcruiser
[District Social Services Support Vehicle]
• 1 x 3-ton Isuzu Truck equipped with canopy and seating
[Minevu Cooperative Society]
Speaking at the presentation, Sir Ano Pala emphasized that these assets symbolize continued investment in grassroots development and the empowerment of remote communities.
“Our people are industrious, resilient, and full of potential. These vehicles are not just tools—they’re lifelines, connecting services and opportunities to places where they’re needed most,” stated Sir Ano.
The double-cab Landcruiser has been designated for district social services, serving as a dedicated transport vehicle for urgent outreach, health, education, and welfare programs across Rigo’s diverse terrains.
In a strategic move to bolster agricultural capacity, the three-ton Isuzu truck has been placed under the stewardship of Dr. Victor Vetari, specifically for use by the Minevu Cooperative Society, serving the Kware and Gegofi ~ Upper Sinavai communities of Rigo Central LLG, within the Nego language group.
The truck will act as a mobile support platform to transport fresh produce from village farms to markets—driving both sustainability and economic participation.
This initiative complements the Rigo District’s Five-Year Development Plan, focused on enabling rural villagers, SMEs, and farmers, to grow local capacity and access support services that lead to meaningful livelihood improvement.
“Rigo must lead by example in rural transformation. Equipping our communities with reliable infrastructure is essential to closing service gaps and creating new pathways for growth,” concluded Sir Ano.
The Office of the Member for Rigo will continue working with local stakeholders to monitor outcomes and ensure these vehicles serve the people with purpose and impact.
