He is blaming Prime Minister James Marape and the current government while pretending he had no part in it. That’s not true. He was a senior minister in this same government for more than three years. He was part of the team. If he saw corruption, if he saw bad decisions, why didn’t he fix them when he had the chance? Why is he only speaking out now, after losing his ministry and political influence?

When James Marape became Prime Minister in 2019, Papua New Guinea was already deep in debt. The economy was damaged, major resource projects were stalled, and public trust in government was already low.

But since then, this government has worked hard to rebuild. Slowly but surely, things are improving. Big mining and gas projects like Papua LNG and Porgera are restarting. More roads are being built under the Connect PNG plan. Free education is still in place. More money is going into health and education than ever before.

Kramer talks about corruption, but where is the proof of what he personally achieved? He talks about blocking deals and rejecting payments, but the people want results, not Facebook speeches.

Prime Minister Marape, on the other hand, is not wasting time on social media drama. He is busy talking with investors, building roads, signing deals, and helping ordinary people. That’s real leadership not chasing popularity online.

It’s also unfair for Kramer to scare people by saying their children will face hunger, poverty and death. That is fear-mongering. That is not leadership. PNG has problems, yes, but the answer is not to blame one man and ignore the real efforts being made. James Marape is not perfect, but he is still standing, still working, and still pushing for change while others just talk.

Let’s stop playing political games. The future of our country is not saved by loud words, but by leaders who take responsibility and stay strong even when things are hard. James Marape has done that. He didn’t run away when things got tough.

So yes, people should care about politics. But they should also be smart about who they trust. Not every loud voice is telling the truth. Some are just trying to make noise because they lost power.

If we really want to move this country forward, we need to support leaders who are still working and not those who are just complaining after being removed.

𝗣𝗠 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗢’𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹, 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗜𝗠𝗙 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀

Prime Minister James Marape has strongly dismissed recent claims by former Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, calling them baseless, politically motivated, and hypocritical. Mr Marape said O’Neill had no right to question the government’s partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), given the economic damage caused during his own time in office.

The Prime Minister responded after Mr O’Neill called on the IMF to withhold funding to Papua New Guinea, claiming corruption and a weak Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Mr Marape fired back, describing these comments as ironic, especially coming from a man whose government left the country buried in debt and riddled with financial scandals.

During O’Neill’s leadership between 2012 and 2019, the country saw eight years of continuous budget deficits, increasing debt levels, and the collapse of critical trust accounts set up by previous governments. PM Marape pointed to the infamous UBS loan deal which cost PNG over K2.5 billion and led to the loss of national equity in major gas projects. He also highlighted how debts were hidden in state-owned enterprises like Kumul Petroleum and KCH, placing enormous liabilities outside the national budget.

“These were reckless decisions,” said Mr Marape. “We are now paying off those expensive, short-term loans with long-term concessional funding from trusted global partners, unlike O’Neill who borrowed at high interest rates from commercial lenders.”

Since coming into office in 2019, Mr Marape said his government has worked hard to restore economic order. He outlined reforms including improving fiscal discipline, reducing the budget deficit from nearly 9% in 2020 to under 3% in 2025, and working towards a balanced budget by 2027. He said the government’s partnership with the IMF, World Bank, and ADB reflects its commitment to transparency and good governance.

He also responded to O’Neill’s criticism of ICAC, noting that while O’Neill failed to pass ICAC legislation in his eight years, the Marape Government established it in 2021. Though still developing, he said ICAC is active and functioning, with international partners, including the IMF, recognising the progress made.

“The IMF doesn’t hand out money blindly,” Mr Marape said. “They are one of the strictest institutions in the world, and we invited them in to monitor and guide our reforms because we are serious about fixing the mess left behind.”

He further said that the country’s economic growth speaks for itself. Over the past four years, PNG has recorded over 4% GDP growth annually, driven largely by agriculture and renewable sectors, not just resource exports.

“This shows we’re building a sustainable economy not one propped up by temporary highs,” Mr Marape said. “We are working with credible lenders and institutions with global reputations, not backdoor financiers.”

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that his government remains focused on reform, economic recovery, and cleaning up the legacy of mismanagement.

“We won’t let political noise distract us. The economy is recovering, the debt is being paid off, and we’re delivering growth in the right sectors,” he said. “Mr O’Neill’s time has passed. We’re moving forward for our people, and for the future of this country.”

In today’s world, influence doesn't only come through formal diplomatic visits or high-level meetings. It also comes through modern digital platforms, content creators and everyday people who reach millions online.

While not everyone may know the young African blogger who visited, the fact is that she has a large following and a strong voice among young global audiences, the very people we need to start talking positively about Papua New Guinea.

Tourism is no longer promoted only through TV ads or government brochures. It spreads through viral videos, social media posts, and storytelling. When people with influence visit PNG and share their experience online, they help change global perceptions. This is part of a new, creative approach, it may not show instant results, but it’s a step in the right direction.

On the topic of law and order, yes, it’s true that safety is a major part of attracting tourists. But improving our image and inviting positive coverage is also part of the long-term solution. We need both, internal reform and external promotion. One does not cancel out the other.

As for the PM’s intent, it’s unfair to assume it was personal or political. Leadership today also means being accessible, relatable, and open to new ideas of diplomacy and outreach. Meeting a social media figure who speaks well of our country is not a disgrace, it shows PNG is open, friendly, and willing to engage the world in new ways.

Let’s not be too quick to call it a disgrace when our leader shows hospitality. That act alone reflects the warmth and spirit of our people. Instead of tearing it down, let’s find ways to turn moments like this into meaningful conversations about tourism, youth engagement, and national pride.

Let’s support each other, criticize when necessary, yes but also give credit when our leaders are trying different approaches to put PNG on the map.

This is a story of true love and sacrifice that will inspire us all.

The girl and boy, hailing from different parts of Enga province, had been in a relationship for years. The boy had pursued his dreams and graduated with a degree from UNITECH, while the girl completed her grade 12 and lived in Port Moresby.

However, fate had other plans for them. The boy fell ill and was diagnosed with a critical disease. His parents called the girl and informed her about his condition. They gave her the option to stay back in Port Moresby and wait for the worst, or to come and see him before he passed away.

Without a second thought, the girl made the difficult decision to leave everything behind and rush to her love's side. She took care of him and stayed with him until his last breath. Her sacrifice was a testament to the power of love and the lengths one would go to show it.

This story teaches us that love is not about material possessions or pride. It is about selflessness and proving to the person you love that they are worth everything to you. The girl's actions were truly inspiring, and we can all learn from her example.

Rest in peace, champion. Your love story will continue to inspire generations to come.
