It’s that time of the year again! 🛫
This period of the year is usually the time families get together, people go back home to spend time with their loved ones, and others go on a long awaited adventure than the usual.
Some tips while travelling during this festive season:
1. CHECK-IN ONLINE.
To avoid being offloaded because of a change in aircraft or overbooking - check-in online with your booking reference and surname. If you are unsure how to do so or don’t have access to the internet, speak to a family member who does. It’s free and convenient. You will be able to select a seat and have your boarding pass sent on email.
2. ONLINE BOARDING PASS.
You don’t have to print your boarding pass. But you can do so if you wish. You can simply show it on your phone at the security checkpoint and at the check-in counter. Be sure to have a valid ID as well.
3. AIR NIUGINI DESTINATIONS PROGRAM.
If you aren’t Destinations member (Gold/Silver), make it a goal to save up and apply. The festive period is the best time to utilise this service. The line is shorter, you are guaranteed a seat, you earn points as a frequent traveller and there’s free meals at the executive lounge. Check out the Air Niugini website to see prices and benefits.
4. BE EARLY.
Everyone says PNG time but not this time around. Be at the airport 2 hours before departure time to avoid any hassle. Even if you are early, the line still goes all the way to the International terminal. But they will call your flight number when check-in is being processed. If you have a ton of cargo, it is also best to check-in early to avoid your cargo being offloaded.
5. BE KIND.
The airport staff turn up at work as early as 2am. And some don’t sleep making sure your flight is hassle free and that you arrive at your destination safely. While we are celebrating with loved ones, they are working around the clock day in, day out. Be sure to have courtesy for workers and passengers as well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Have a happy and safe holiday 🎄
