PUBLIC ALERT: Wanted Scam Suspect Operating in Wewak and Surrounding Areas

Name: Sonia Rumints
Origin: Hails from Hagen and Wabag; known to have connections to Southern Highlands and East Sepik Provinces
False Identity: Claims to be a Mobile Squad officer from Kerowagi

Modus Operandi:
Sonia Rumints has been actively involved in scamming individuals in Wewak and surrounding areas. Her methods include:

False Gold Investment Claims: She often claims to possess a gold bar and pretends to have deposited a cheque, stating it will clear in three weeks. During this time, she solicits financial assistance from victims under the promise of repayment once her funds are released.

Material and Credit Fraud: She requests money, livestock (such as pigs and chickens), and mobile credit (flex) from unsuspecting individuals, promising to repay within 14 days — a promise she never fulfills.

Police Impersonation: She falsely claims to be affiliated with the police, specifically the Mobile Squad from Kerowagi, to gain trust and legitimacy.

Recent Incident: In one of her latest scams, she allegedly used fuel money provided by a man in Maprik and has since disappeared. Police are reportedly pursuing her for impersonating law enforcement and defrauding multiple individuals.

Status: Currently on the run. She has scammed numerous people and continues to pose a threat to the community.

Request for Action:
If you have any information regarding Sonia Rumints’ whereabouts, please report immediately to your nearest police station. Let’s work together to stop her from targeting more innocent people.

The Porgera-Paiela Open By-Election is getting very exciting, with only a small number of votes separating the top two candidates.

After the 23rd elimination, Gidron Karipe is still in front with 13,529 votes, but Stanford Tokoya is very close behind with 13,221 votes, only 308 votes apart.

In the 24th elimination, Andrew Amet was removed from the race. He had 8,221 votes, and where his votes go next will be very important in deciding who moves ahead.

Subject: Missing Person Report – Ms. Nora Solien (Age 14)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I, Alu Taureka, of Hohola #2, Beech Street, Section 7 Lot 8, am writing with deep concern to formally report that Miss Nora Solien, aged 14, has been missing since the morning of Saturday, 2nd August 2025, between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

Nora was last seen in the vicinity of Hohola #2, wearing a floral red meri blouse. She is approximately 164 cm tall, of solid build, with neck-length black hair, brown complexion, and noticeable scar marks on her legs.

Despite exhaustive efforts to reach her via phone, social media, and through family, friends, and known associates, we have not been able to locate her. Her disappearance is completely out of character, and we are extremely worried for her safety and wellbeing.

We respectfully request the immediate assistance of the Boroko Police in launching a full investigation into her disappearance. A recent photograph and relevant supporting documents are attached for your reference.

Should further information be required, I am available at 7724 0908.

We also appeal to the public: If you have seen Nora Solien or know of her whereabouts, please come forward immediately. Any information—no matter how small—could help bring her home.

The government must give power to Police and defense forces to shoot to kill from Laigam to Porgera.

Frequently blocking roads and cutting down bridges affecting the world largest gold mine in Porgera- Enga Province in PNG.

Roads access plays a vital role in PNG. The levels of road and bridge connectivity play a central part in accessibility to all rural and urban areas in PNG. It must be effectively and fully participate in the formal economic sector and access public goods and services.

Porgera mining is the world largest gold mine, and it can boost the country's economy , yet Maip ~Muliruka district gives zero respect.

Porgera ~Paila has 3 consistency with more than 25,000+ populations. They excess only this road. When mulitaka, people block roads and cut down bridges. These huge number of people are suffering. Gold mine is affecting badly, and it will definitely affect the country's economy.

Enga Provincial Government, PPC,Law & Order Director must collaborate with Prime Minister and Police Commissioner to come up with solid decisions so that traffic flow up to Porgera District must be effectively accessible without giving any barriers.
The government must address and introduce the penalties and deals with those animal brains at Mulitata.

We want immediate action without delaying.

Unconscious Woman Found Along Sogeri Highway: Authorities Investigate Circumstances

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – August 4, 2025

A young woman was found unconscious along the Sogeri Highway early Monday morning, prompting an urgent police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to initial reports from the Central Provincial Police Command, a passing motorist discovered the woman lying motionless near a bend along the highway, roughly 3 kilometers from the Sogeri Plateau turnoff. The Good Samaritan quickly alerted the authorities and stayed with the woman until emergency services arrived.

The unidentified woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was rushed to Port Moresby General Hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition. Hospital staff confirmed she sustained multiple bruises and signs of possible trauma but have not yet determined the exact cause of her condition.

Central Authority said a full investigation is underway. "At this stage, we cannot rule out any possibilities – whether this was a hit-and-run, an assault, or something else. We are calling on the public for any information that might help us determine what happened," he stated during a press briefing.

Local residents expressed concern, citing rising safety issues along the usually peaceful highway. “It’s shocking. This is not something we’re used to seeing out here,” said Thomas Avea, a resident of a nearby village. “We hope she recovers and whoever is responsible is brought to justice.”

Authorities are urging anyone who may have been traveling along the Sogeri Highway between 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM to come forward with any dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts that could assist the investigation.

The woman has not yet been formally identified. Police are working with hospital staff to contact family members. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
